Starbucks Expands in Peru with New Store at Lima Airport and First Coffeehouse in Huánuco, Marking Regional Growth Milestone
The stores—located in the new domestic arrivals terminal of Lima’s Jorge Chávez International Airport and in the market’s north-central region— underscore Starbucks ongoing growth across Latin America & The Caribbean, where it now operates more than 1,800 coffeehouses. Starbucks Peru plans to open three additional coffeehouses this year, including another location at this key airport hub.
Starbucks has reached a new milestone in its regional journey, with more than 1,800 coffeehouses now operating across Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC). In Peru, together with its licensed partner Delosi, the company is opening two new stores: one at the newly inaugurated domestic arrivals terminal of Lima’s Jorge Chávez International Airport, and the other marking its first coffeehouse in the city of Huánuco. These openings underscore the brand’s commitment to long-term sustainable growth across the region, fueled by enduring partnerships and a shared vision for meaningful local impact.
Connections Traveling from Lima to the World
In its first month of operation, the new terminal welcomed over 2 million passengers and 14,000 flights between takeoffs and landings. Starbucks now joins this dynamic new hub with its third store in the airport, strengthening its presence at one of Peru’s most important gateways — connecting Lima, the provinces, and the world — while continuing to bring the Starbucks Coffeehouse Experience to more people, in more places across the region.

“This opening is more than just a new store—it’s a symbol of our continuous evolution and commitment to meeting our customers where they are. The new terminal represents a gateway to Peru, but also a unique opportunity to connect with thousands of people every day,” said Cristel Delgado, country manager of Starbucks Peru.
The newly opened store builds on the successful performance of Starbucks two existing locations at Jorge Chávez International Airport—Domestic and International Departures— recognized as some of the highest-traffic stores in the market. As part of Starbucks continued expansion strategy, a fourth store is set to open next week in the Peru Plaza mezzanine at LAP.
A Celebration with a Forward-Looking Vision
Since arriving in LAC in 2002 with the opening of its first coffeehouses in Puerto Rico and Mexico, Starbucks has continued to expand its presence across the region — guided by a deep respect for coffee origin, strong local partnerships, and a commitment to delivering the coffeehouse experience to more communities.
Just one year later, in 2003, Starbucks opened its first store in South America, located in Lima, Peru — marking the beginning of a meaningful connection with Peruvian customers through its high-quality Arabica coffee and welcoming coffeehouse experience, a connection that has only deepened over time.
Today, the company operates in 26markets across the region and 89 globally.
“For more than two decades, Latin America and the Caribbean has been central to Starbucks — not only as a source of high-quality arabica coffee, but as a region rich in culture, talent, and opportunity,” said Ricardo Arias-Nath, svp and president of Starbucks Latin America and the Caribbean. “Surpassing 1,800 coffeehouses is a proud milestone that reflects the strength of our local partnerships and the trust our customers continue to place in us as part of their daily lives.”
Expanding Across Peru’s Coffee Regions
In Peru, Starbucks works alongside its strategic partner Delosi, with whom it has built a network of over 120 stores across 12 cities, directly employing more than 1,700 partners (employees) nationwide. Over the past year, the brand expanded into new cities such as Juliaca and Iquitos, while also introducing innovative formats like Drive-Thru locations, designed to meet the evolving lifestyles of Peruvian customers.
Today, the brand arrives for the first time in Huánuco with a store located at the city’s Real Plaza, employing 18 partners proud to wear the iconic green apron. With this opening, Starbucks strengthens its presence in 13 cities across Peru —Lima, Piura, Trujillo, Chiclayo, Cajamarca, Chimbote, Ica, Huancayo, Arequipa, Cusco, Juliaca, Iquitos, and now Huánuco— and reaffirms its commitment to sustainable growth as well as to uplift regions that hold deep significance for the markets coffee culture.

“We are very excited to open our first coffeehouse in Huánuco, a region that plays a key role in Peru’s coffee tradition and one with which we have been connected since our beginnings, through the coffee we serve every day in each of our cups. This opening represents a bridge between our coffee roots and the customers who today enjoy the Starbucks Experience,” said Cristel Delgado, Country Manager for Starbucks Peru, Ecuador, and Bolivia.
Sustainability, Local Art and Customer Experience
These new stores were designed with a focus on reducing environmental impact through energy efficiency, water conservation, and responsible waste management. Built with locally sourced materials, the spaces also feature murals that symbolize the harmonious connection between people and their surroundings — while showcasing local art and culture to the hundreds of travelers who visit them each day.
