Starbucks Opens First Coffeehouse in Guayaquil

Located in Mall del Sol Shopping Center, the new coffeehouse represents Starbucks ninth location in Ecuador and its arrival in the market’s most populous city, reinforcing ongoing expansion.

July 15, 2026

Starbucks, operated in Ecuador by Delonorte S.A., today announced the opening of its first coffeehouse in Guayaquil, located at Mall del Sol Shopping Center, set in northern Guayaquil’s bustling commercial corridor, adjacent to major business centers and a short distance from the city’s international airport.

“At Starbucks, we believe in the power of human connection. The opening of our first coffeehouse in Guayaquil represents an important step for us and an opportunity to further strengthen our relationship with Ecuadorian customers. We aspire for this space to become a gathering place for the community, where people can meet, work, celebrate, or simply take a break while enjoying the Starbucks Experience,” said Cristel Delgado, Country Manager of Starbucks Ecuador.

Conceived as a warm urban refuge within one of the most popular malls in Guayaquil, the design evokes the familiarity of a neighborhood corner café with an interior that invites pause, connection, and comfort. Through the use of rich materials and warm lighting – including a stunning chandelier created by Ecuadorian multidisciplinary artist Daniel Calderón – the coffeehouse incorporates elements that reflect the essence of the Starbucks brand. The spatial layout creates intimate zones for gathering, while the central bar acts as a communal anchor, fostering a sense of connection and belonging. The store also features a cozy terrace offering a relaxed, comfortable setting for customers to gather and connect.

Since entering the Ecuadorian market in August 2024 with its first store in Quito, Starbucks has continued to expand its presence through new locations and formats—including its recent debut at Quito’s Mariscal Sucre International Airport—broadening access to the Starbucks Experience for customers on the go. Across the market, Starbucks remains focused on delivering high-quality Arabica coffee beverages handcrafted by skilled baristas, while creating welcoming environments that bring people together.

As part of this growth, Starbucks will continue expanding its presence in Ecuador throughout 2026. In the coming weeks, the brand is set to open a new coffeehouse at Riocentro El Dorado, followed by a third store in Guayaquil later this year.

The opening of the Mall del Sol coffeehouse in Guayaquil will create 18 new jobs, contributing to local economic development and providing new opportunities for the partners (employees) who will bring the Starbucks Experience to life in Guayaquil. In total, Starbucks has approximately 170 partners across Ecuador, all of whom play a key role in the brand’s operations.

Since opening its first coffeehouse in Ecuador, Starbucks has supported communities across Ecuador through The Starbucks Foundation. In collaboration with licensed partner Delonorte S.A, Global Community Impact Grants, have supported Fundación Forge Ecuador to advance youth employment and workforce readiness. In coffee‑growing regions, Starbucks Origin Grants have extended community impact through partnerships with organizations such as Days for Girls International, increasing access to menstrual health education, sustainable menstrual products and economic opportunities for women and girls.

With a presence in more than 90 markets worldwide and a strong operation across Latin America and the Caribbean, Starbucks continues to bring its coffeehouse experience closer to more communities while reaffirming its commitment to fostering meaningful human connection through every cup of coffee.

This opening marks another step in Starbucks growth in Ecuador, bringing the Starbucks Experience to more customers in ways that reflect local tastes and preferences. The coffeehouse menu will include a selection of desserts featuring locally relevant flavors, including an item made with locally sourced figs.

The Starbucks Mall del Sol store will open to the public on July 16, 2026, and will be located on the upper level of the shopping center, diagonally across from the central elevator. Store hours will be Monday through Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., and Sunday from 9:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
