Starbucks Brazil – operated by ZAMP – is expanding its footprint in Rio de Janeiro with the opening of three new stores in strategic locations across the city. The new stores are scheduled to open at Shopping Tijuca on September 23, Tom Jobim International Airport (Galeão) on September 26, and Shopping Rio Sul, in Botafogo, on September 27. The openings reinforce the brand’s growth momentum in Brazil and mark Starbucks return to Rio’s iconic South Zone, one of the city’s most vibrant areas for residents, professionals and visitors alike. The new coffeehouses are part of Starbucks growth strategy in Brazil, which includes the opening of approximately 30 new locations across the market by the end of 2026.

Designed to meet different customer needs throughout the day, each coffeehouse reflects the characteristics of its surrounding area. The Galeão location will serve travelers, airport employees and visitors passing through Rio’s main international gateway, while the stores at Shopping Tijuca and Shopping Rio Sul will expand Starbucks presence in neighborhoods known for their mix of residential life, commerce, dining and entertainment.

The Botafogo opening also marks Starbucks return to Rio’s South Zone, one of the city’s most important cultural, culinary and tourism hubs. The expansion reflects the brand’s commitment to growing in established markets while bringing the Starbucks Experience closer to customers’ everyday lives.

To celebrate the openings, Starbucks will offer exclusive benefits to customers visiting the stores on their opening days, reinforcing the brand’s commitment to celebrating these milestones alongside the local communities.

“Starbucks expansion reflects the way cities continue to evolve and how people move through and experience them. In Rio de Janeiro, we identified an opportunity to bring together different types of locations—from airports and shopping centers to traditional neighborhoods—allowing us to connect with customers across multiple occasions throughout the day. This approach enables us to deliver the Starbucks Experience in a variety of settings while strengthening our presence across the city,” said Filipe Reis, Head of Marketing, Starbucks Brazil.

The new stores also represent the continued evolution of the Starbucks coffeehouse. These spaces are designed to support a variety of customer needs—from social gatherings to focused work—reinforcing Starbucks role as a welcoming environment where people can connect, stay and enjoy meaningful moments. Each store features a combination of flexible seating arrangements, natural materials and warm lighting to create comfortable, versatile spaces for different customer profiles and occasions throughout the day.

Starbucks continues expanding across Brazil’s major cities

Over the past few months, Starbucks has also expanded its presence in São Paulo with the opening of new stores at SBUX Office – Torre Z (Nova Praça) in Vila Cordeiro, JK Square in Itaim Bibi and João Moura in Pinheiros, in addition to the reopening of its Berrini and Eliseu stores.

These openings reinforce Starbucks strategy of strengthening its presence in cities where it already operates by combining new store openings and reopenings to bring the Starbucks Experience closer to customers across a wide range of locations—from commercial centers and corporate districts to residential neighborhoods, tourist destinations and major transportation hubs.
