Starbucks Chile Opens First Coffeehouse in Puerto Varas
As part of its continued expansion plans in the market, Starbucks Chile, operated by licensed business partner Alsea, today announced the opening of its first coffeehouse in the city of Puerto Varas, continuing its steady growth and bringing the Starbucks Experience to even more customers in southern Chile’s Lakes District.
Located at Del Salvador 21, at the gateway to Patagonia, the new Puerto Varas coffeehouse invites customers to connect over high-quality Arabica coffee in a warm and welcoming space, inspired by the local community and its surroundings.

At Starbucks, every coffeehouse is designed to enhance the human connection made over a cup of coffee and to reflect and celebrate the communities they serve. In Puerto Varas, the new space features local elements created by Chilean artisans – such as a traditional loom and rustic hanging lamps – celebrating craftsmanship and culture, alongside reclaimed wood and stone that reflect the Patagonian landscape. These details come together to create a welcoming experience where customers can enjoy handcrafted beverages.
“We are thrilled to arrive in Puerto Varas, a city that reflects the warmth and sense of community we strive to create in every coffeehouse. This opening reinforces Starbucks commitment to expanding across southern Chile, while creating meaningful job opportunities for our partners and positive local impact for the community. We believe this new coffeehouse will become a welcoming Third Place where customers can connect over coffee,” said Claudia Aburto, managing director for Starbucks at Alsea South America.
Since Starbucks arrived in Chile in 2003 with its first coffeehouse in Santiago, the company has remained committed to its customers and communities in Chile. In partnership with Alsea, Starbucks continues to expand to new cities across the market, with recent openings in Calama and Antofagasta in the north, and Osorno, Valdivia and Puerto Montt in the south. Starbucks Chile has also been a pioneer on innovative coffeehouse design across Latin America and the Caribbean, opening the region’s first Starbucks Reserve bar in 2017 and the first regional Greener Store in 2022. Today, Starbucks operates 180 coffeehouses in the market, with over 2,000 partners proudly wearing the green apron.
The Starbucks coffeehouse in Puerto Varas was built under a sustainable model and includes features such as the use of recycled materials and an energy-efficient system that helps reduce resource consumption. In addition, the coffeehouse has a waste management program that promotes recycling and waste reduction.
