With these openings, Starbucks reinforces its commitment to job creation, economic growth and environmental sustainability, while continuing its expansion on the island.
San Juan, Puerto Rico – Starbucks, operated in Puerto Rico by Baristas del Caribe, celebrates the opening of two new stores on the island, bringing its total to 35 locations across the market. The new stores are located in River Town Plaza Commercial Center and at the Auxilio Mutuo Hospital in Hato Rey, marking the first Starbucks store within a hospital in Puerto Rico.
The opening of both stores reinforces Starbucks commitment to job creation and economic development on the island. With a total investment of over three million USD in these new locations, the company has created 50 direct jobs, welcoming more partners (employees) passionate about the green apron and dedicated to delivering the unique Starbucks Experience.
The River Town Plaza Commercial Center store, located on Los Filtros Avenue in Bayamón, is strategically located to serve both residents and visitors to the area, while the new store at the Auxilio Mutuo Hospital provides a tranquil space for patients, family members and healthcare personnel. Both stores will feature the menu of handcrafted beverages and food that Starbucks customers know and love, as well as comfortable and inviting spaces to gather and relax.

“We are thrilled to continue our expansion in Puerto Rico with the opening of our 34th and 35th stores. These new locations allow us to continue to remain an integral part of our communities’ daily lives, reinforcing our role as a Third Place, where people can connect, relax and feel welcome,” said Idis Ortiz-López, General Manager of Starbucks Puerto Rico. “We are especially proud to open our first store in a hospital, providing a conforming space for those at the Auxilio Mutuo Hospital who need it most.”
With more than 20 years of presence in Puerto Rico, Starbucks reaffirms its commitment to the community, not only through continuous growth, but also by contributing to the economic and social development of the areas where it has a presence.
As part of Starbucks reinvention plans, the new stores feature technological innovations designed to benefit both customers and partners, including state-of-the-art Mastrena 2.0 coffee machines.
The stores also embrace the Starbucks Grounds For Your Garden initiative, offering customers free bags of used coffee grounds to take home and use as a compost or an eco-friendly fertilizer alternative.
