How Starbucks is Supporting Communities Affected by Hurricane John in Mexico
In response to significant damage across the state of Guerrero caused by Hurricane John, The Starbucks Foundation and Alsea Foundation– Alsea is the Starbucks licensed business operator in Mexico – have committed to donating a total of over US $150,000 to nonprofit organizations to support impacted communities and relief efforts.
The Starbucks Foundation is donating US $50,000 to World Central Kitchen, its longtime relief partner, to provide immediate food relief to communities through distribution of meals and water.
Alsea is also supporting relief efforts via its Alsea Foundation, providing MX $1 million to support affected communities in partnership with World Vision Mexico, who is matching with MX $1 million.
This relief comes as communities are still recovering from the devastation of Hurricane Otis in October 2023. At that time, The Starbucks Foundation donated US $100,000 to World Central Kitchen, Planet Water Foundation, and Center for Disaster Philanthropy while Alsea Foundation and World Vision donated MX $2.8 million for Hurricane Otis relief and recovery.
