Starbucks Coffee Academy Now Available Online in Spanish

The collection of courses – available to all partners (employees), customers and the general public – allows anyone with a curiosity to learn more about coffee and the topics that interest them most.

Seattle, WA – Starbucks today announced the launch of its Starbucks Coffee Academy online educational collection in Spanish on Starbucks Global Academy. The rollout comes ahead of International Coffee Day and as the company commemorates its first-ever Global Coffee Week – a moment for all who love and enjoy coffee to come together to celebrate, learn and be inspired by the limitless possibilities of one of the world’s most beloved beverages.

First introduced in 2019 in English, Starbucks Coffee Academy is designed to explore the many facets of the coffee industry and Starbucks role as a leader in ethical sourcing, roasting, blending, brewing and craft. The collection is now available in over 80 markets and five additional languages – Japanese, Chinese, French, Italian and Spanish – with over 400,000 enrollments to date. Starbucks partners, customers, family and friends are welcome to complete the training.

“At Starbucks, we are committed to coffee and fueling a passion for lifelong learning,” said Tom Ferguson, president of Starbucks Latin America and Caribbean. “We are thrilled that the linguistic expansion of Starbucks Coffee Academy will allow more Spanish speakers the opportunity to join us in this learning journey and immerse themselves in Starbucks key industry insights and deep love of all things coffee.”

The Starbucks Coffee Academy course content was developed by Starbucks team of coffee experts: agronomists, quality specialists, buyers, roasters and coffee educators. The Coffee Academy’s modular approach starts with foundational coffee knowledge for anyone just starting their coffee journey, with the sequential levels building on that knowledge and delving deeper into each topic, from farm to cup.

The Starbucks Coffee Academy courses now available in Spanish include Level 100, Level 200, Level 300 – Brew and Craft, Level 300 – Origin and Ethical Sourcing, and Level 300 – Roast and Blend.

Starbucks Coffee Academy is part of Starbucks Global Academy (SGA), a barrier-free, global learning platform providing Starbucks partners (employees), customers, and community members open access to world-class courses and educational materials designed to improve careers and strengthen communities. The online platform empowers learners to achieve their personal and professional goals through innovative curriculum and learning tools from top-ranked Arizona State University, grounded in Starbucks deep expertise and global social impact aspirations. First launched in 2017, SGA was made available to 22 markets in Latin America and the Caribbean in 2022 with the introduction of its first Spanish-language offering – Mandil Más Verde Greener Apron program – focused on ways to incorporate sustainability practices into one’s daily life.
