Starbucks Peru celebrates Earth Day with free coffee for customers who bring their own reusable cups or tumblers

The company invites customers to join its efforts to reduce waste with a special Earth Day promotion and “Grounds for Your Garden” composting program launch.

Lima, Peru - Committed to being a resource positive company, Starbucks Peru is offering free coffee to customers who bring their own reusable cups or tumblers to cafes across the market this Friday, April 22, in celebration of Earth Day.

In support of the company’s goal to reduce waste sent to landfill from stores and direct operations, Starbucks is shifting away from single-use plastics, promoting reusability and championing the use of recycled content, driven by a broader shift towards a circular economy.

“Starbucks Peru is committed to sustainability initiatives and seeking ways to reduce waste generated in ours stores,” said Fabiola Mauricio, Manager of Specialties of Starbucks Peru. “To achieve this, we are pleased to work hand in hand with our partners (employees), customers, and suppliers, to care for our planet and reduce our collective environmental impact.”

In addition to the reusable cup coffee promotion, this Earth Day Starbucks Peru will also launch its Grounds for Your Garden composting program in stores across 10 cities.

First introduced by Starbucks in 1995, Grounds for Your Garden offers customers a free bag of used coffee grounds to enrich their gardens and compost. Reusing coffee grounds – which are offered to customers on a first-come, first-served basis and packaged in a reusable aluminized bag – reduces landfill waste and provides a material that to can be used to enrich gardens and compost.

With these sustainability initiatives, Starbucks Peru invites partners and customers to celebrate Earth Day by reducing waste and protecting our planet.
