Starbucks Accelerates Expansion in Minas Gerais with New Coffeehouse in Savassi
Located at the corner of Rua Antônio de Albuquerque and Avenida Getúlio Vargas, the new store marks Starbucks arrival in Savassi and the beginning of a new expansion cycle in Minas Gerais
Starbucks, operated by Zamp, announces its arrival at Praça da Savassi, marking the beginning of a new expansion cycle in Minas Gerais. Located at the corner of Rua Antônio de Albuquerque and Avenida Getúlio Vargas, the new store will open at the end of August in one of Belo Horizonte’s most iconic neighborhoods, known for its vibrant dining, commercial and cultural scene. The new coffeehouse was designed to welcome the diversity of people who pass through Savassi every day, bringing together residents, professionals, students and visitors in a space conceived as a special Third Place.
The opening reflects Starbucks continued focus on expanding in key urban centers across Brazil. Two additional coffeehouses are expected to open in September, at Shopping Del Rey and Boulevard Shopping BH, reinforcing the brand’s growth plans, which include approximately 30 new stores across the market. Starbucks currently operates 116 stores in Brazil.

As part of the openings, Starbucks will offer exclusive benefits to customers who visit the new stores on their opening days, as a way to celebrate this moment and strengthen its connection with local communities.
“Minas Gerais has a unique relationship with coffee. It’s deeply woven into the state’s culture, daily routines and moments of connection. For Starbucks, expanding our presence here is about becoming part of that tradition while offering a distinctive experience that combines our global coffee expertise with an understanding of local tastes and preferences. We see tremendous opportunity to strengthen our connection with customers in Minas Gerais and build an increasingly meaningful presence in their everyday lives,” said Filipe Reis, Head of Marketing at Starbucks Brazil.
Starbucks Growth in Brazil’s Major Capitals
In recent months, the brand has also expanded its presence in São Paulo with the opening of the SBUX Office – Torre Z (Nova Praça) store, in Vila Cordeiro; JK Square, in Itaim Bibi; and João Moura, in Pinheiros, in addition to the reopening of the Berrini and Eliseu stores. The move underscores Starbucks strategy of consolidating its operations in markets where it is already present, combining new openings and reopenings to expand consumers’ access to the Starbucks Experience across different types of locations — from shopping centers and corporate hubs to residential neighborhoods, tourist destinations and major mobility hubs.
