Seattle, WA — With a flavor profile that features notes of cinnamon, candied orange and the sweetness of cane sugar, Starbucks introduces Starbucks® Mexico Puebla, a tribute to the passion and legacy of more than 1,350 smallholder farmers, who, through generations, have perfected the production of coffee and cultivated a coffee tradition rooted in the soul of these volcanic lands.

This is a proudly Mexican single-origin coffee that pays tribute to the Puebla state's deep coffee and cultural roots.  Grown in the region's majestic Sierra Norte and carefully roasted to Starbucks signature blonde level, this coffee captures the essence of its homeland. Available for a limited time, this coffee invites you to discover its unique history in every bean.

“Starbucks® Mexico Puebla celebrates the vast cultural heritage of the state, as well as the effort and passion of its coffee growers,” said Ricardo Arias-Nath, svp of Starbucks Latin America and the Caribbean. “We are excited to be able to offer our customers a coffee that connects exceptional flavors with the history of its land of origin and the sustainability of its production, as these are the hallmarks of all Starbucks coffee products.”

Honoring Puebla and its farmers

With its volcanic soil and high altitudes, Puebla provides the perfect terrain for growing specialty coffee. Starbucks® Mexico Puebla captivates with its unique flavor, while also reflecting the positive impact on local farming communities, many of them of indigenous origin. Since 2018, Starbucks has worked closely with farmers in Puebla through its C.A.F.E. Practices program, improving crop productivity and quality, while generating benefits for the families who depend on coffee cultivation.

One of the faces of this effort is Máximo Ponce García, a Totonac farmer from Zongozotla. Thanks to the technical support and programs from Starbucks Farmer Support Center, Máximo was able to increase his farm's yield and, most importantly, make his dream of providing a professional education for his children a reality.

"Thanks to the support and training I received, I transformed my coffee production and proudly watched my children become professionals—something I always dreamed of," Máximo shared.

Authentic Flavors and a design inspired by tradition

The packaging of Starbucks® Mexico Puebla captures the essence of the region’s culture and nature. Inspired by Puebla’s Talavera pottery, a handcrafted ceramic with Denomination of Origin, the vibrant colors and intricate patterns stand out as symbols of Puebla’s rich artisanal heritage. The design also honors the majestic Popocatépetl and Iztaccíhuatl volcanoes, whose imposing presence not only adorns the landscape but also enriches the soil and microclimates ideal for growing this unique coffee.

With a blonde roast that enhances its acidity and medium body, this coffee is the perfect companion for baking spices, cocoa, and nuts, inviting a sensory experience that transports you to the heart of Puebla.

The Starbucks® Mexico Puebla single-origin coffee offers an incomparable flavor and reflects the tradition, land, and dedication of Puebla’s coffee farmers. It will be available at select Starbucks stores in Latin America and the Caribbean starting January 7, 2025, while supplies last. Don’t miss the opportunity to enjoy this exceptional coffee.
