The Starbucks Foundation and SouthRock Donate to Brazil Flood Relief

Updated: February 25, 2022
As Brazilians rebuild following devastating rain, flooding and landslides in the northeastern state of Bahia and most recently in the city of Petrópolis in the state of Rio de Janeiro, The Starbucks Foundation and SouthRock – licensed retail operator of Starbucks in Brazil – have committed joint donations to support immediate relief and recovery efforts on the ground.
The funding designated to support communities across Bahia was distributed to World Central Kitchen and Gerando Falcões, in partnership with BrazilFoundation, to provide food, water, emergency shelter and other immediate support.
In Petrópolis, local Starbucks partners (employees) volunteered to distribute essential food and beverage items to the community. In addition, The Starbucks Foundation is supporting World Central Kitchen which is preparing and serving fresh meals to displaced families as well as emergency crews and volunteers helping with recovery and relief efforts.
The Starbucks Foundation strengthens humanity by transforming lives across the world, with a focus on enabling community resiliency and prosperity and uplifting communities affected by disaster.
