Starbucks Brazil Announces Expansion to Bahia

The company’s arrival to the city of Salvador in early 2023 marks its expansion to eight Brazilian states with nearly 200 stores across the market.

Salvador, Brazil – SouthRock – Starbucks licensed operator in Brazil – today announced the expansion to the state of Bahia with a store located in Shopping da Bahia, in Salvador, scheduled to open during the first quarter of 2023. The store will mark Starbucks presence in eight states across Brazil and is expected to generate more than 30 direct job positions.

“It is with great pleasure that we announce the arrival of Starbucks in the northeast region of Brazil. We are very happy to start this journey in Salvador, Bahia, sharing our passion for coffee with the local population. Bringing the Starbucks Experience to customers in Bahia, such an important coffee producing region, while also creating job opportunities within the city of Salvador is a great source of pride for us,” said Claudia Malaguerra, managing director of Starbucks in Brazil.

The first Starbucks “baiana” store will be located at Shopping da Bahia, one of the most important shopping centers in the area. With this store, Starbucks Brazil seeks to offer customers a space where members of the community can gather and connect with family and friends over coffee. Additionally, SouthRock and Starbucks are actively evaluating other potential store locations in the city.

The new store will feature a warm and comfortable atmosphere for customers to enjoy high-quality arabica coffee from Brazil and around the world, as well as handcrafted beverages prepared by baristas. Menu options will range from Starbucks® Brasil Blend – a unique coffee made with 100% Brazilian beans from the regions of Minas Gerais, São Paulo and Bahia – to other locally relevant offerings, such as the Starbucks Brigadeiro Frappuccino®, and an exclusive recipe of the traditional Pão de Queijo, a bestselling item, only offered by Starbucks Brazil. Customers will also have access to the Starbucks Rewards™ loyalty program, which offers exclusive benefits and rewards for its members.
