Travel Across Mexico with the New Starbucks Discovery Series Mug Collection

The new collection features 24 designs inspired by iconic destinations across Mexico, celebrating the richness, culture and everyday moments that define each place. With the Discovery Series, Starbucks reimagines its beloved collectibles, honoring local pride, creativity and connection.

Mexico City – Starbucks Mexico, operated by Alsea, introduces a new edition of the Starbucks Discovery Series, a collection designed to celebrate the market’s most relevant tourist destinations through their most representative iconic landmarks, unique food, local activities and people. 

The Starbucks Discovery Series collection captures the energy and identity of 24 destinations across the market through vibrant illustrations and hyper local details. Each design reflects the elements that make every city unique, from gastronomy and architecture to cultural icons and everyday rituals, transforming each mug into a meaningful keepsake that connects customers to the neighborhoods they love.

“With the Starbucks Discovery Series, we want to honor the essence of Mexico’s most iconic destinations. Each design reflects the symbols, flavors and everyday scenes that make every city special, from the Metro in Mexico City and Cerro de la Silla in Monterrey, to tequila in Jalisco and coffee traditions in Chiapas, Veracruz and Puebla. These pieces celebrate local pride and the moments that bring us together,” said Diego Recalde, marketing director of Alsea Starbucks.

For the first time, this edition incorporates illustrated human figures representing everyday life and the vibrant communities that make each destination unique. This addition reinforces Starbucks commitment to nurturing human connection, one person, one cup and one neighborhood at a time.

A Journey Through 24 Cities
This new edition is inspired by 24 cities in Mexico, along with a special national design, created to celebrate the diversity of Mexican culture. In total, the collection includes more than 50 collectible pieces designed to turn it into a journey of exploration and rediscovery.

The collection will be available beginning February 17, 2026, in Starbucks stores nationwide and includes a variety of collectible items, such as 14 oz ceramic mugs, the collection’s signature format; 2 oz mugs; 24 oz reusable cold plastic cups; 16 oz stainless steel tumblers; and foldable tote bags, which are joining the Starbucks Discovery Series for the first time.

The featured cities in this collection are: Cancún, Mexico City, Los Cabos, Puerto Vallarta, Guadalajara, Tulum, Monterrey, Cozumel, Playa del Carmen, Guanajuato, San Miguel de Allende, Ensenada, Mazatlán, Chihuahua, Mérida, Querétaro, Puebla, León, Morelia, Oaxaca, Chiapas, Acapulco, Veracruz, and Zacatecas, in addition to the special Mexico design.

Designs That Celebrate Local Identity
The elements that make each city unique are reflected in every collectible, celebrating its gastronomy, fauna, flora, customs, traditions, music, must-see landmarks, and archaeological sites as points of connection with each state’s local identity.

This design celebrates the cultural richness of Mexico through beloved  such as the piñata, the jaguar, papel picado, mariachi, and the golden eagle, alongside gastronomic references like tacos dorados, pan de muerto, and tequila, as well as symbols of tradition and celebration such as lucha libre and Día de Muertos.

Mexico City
This design brings together icons such as the Metro, the Metropolitan Cathedral, Xochimilco, Chapultepec, and lucha libre, capturing the dynamism, diversity, and urban energy that define the capital.

Guadalajara
This collectible piece pays tribute to its cultural identity such as mariachi, tequila, charrería, and folkloric dance, accompanied by architectural elements that distinguish the city´s heritage and vibrant spirit.

Monterrey
This destination artwork combines natural and urban landmarks such as Cerro de la Silla, Fundidora Park, soccer, and carne asada to represent the city’s active and contemporary spirit.

Cancún
This piece captures Cancún’s tropical essence by bringing together icons such as Playa Delfines, Nichupté Lagoon, and the ferry to Cozumel, along with references to its natural richness like fire coral. Cultural and lifestyle elements such as the michelada, fresh coconut, and activities like beach volleyball reflect its true Caribbean spirit.

Los Cabos
The design celebrates the strength and natural beauty of Los Cabos with icons such as the Arch of Cabo San Lucas, whale watching, and Todos Santos. Elements like surfing, golf, snorkeling, and fish tacos reflect its coastal spirit.

Puerto Vallarta
The illustration highlights Puerto Vallarta’s coastal and cultural charm with icons such as Playa Conchas Chinas, the Marietas Islands, and humpback whales. Elements like the seahorse, colorful facades, and coconut reflect its natural essence.

Tulum
The Tulum collection artwork evokes the city’s bohemian and natural essence through icons such as cenotes, the Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve, and Playa Paraíso. Elements like yoga, cocktails, hibiscus, and bicycles reflect its eco-conscious spirit, deeply connected to nature.

Cozumel
The design celebrates Cozumel’s marine richness with icons such as its reefs, sea turtles, and the splendid toadfish. Elements like snorkeling, scuba diving, and its paradise beaches reflect its island essence, deeply connected to the sea.

Playa del Carmen
Through its artwork, the vibrant and cosmopolitan spirit of Playa del Carmen is celebrated with icons such as 5th Avenue, Xcaret, and Playa Mamitas. Elements like piña coladas, kitesurfing, and colorful marine life reflect the energetic rhythm of its everyday lifestyle.
 

Guanajuato
Among alleyways, tunnels, and history-filled plazas, the piece pays tribute to Guanajuato with landmarks such as the Alley of the Kiss, the International Cervantino Festival, and the Mummies Museum. Its colorful houses, enchiladas mineras, and traditional estudiantinas evoke the city’s cultural, artistic, and historic character.

San Miguel de Allende
With its iconic architecture and artistic atmosphere, the design pays tribute to San Miguel de Allende through landmarks such as the Parroquia de San Miguel Arcángel, its colorful streets, and traditional celebrations. Cultural and culinary elements evoke its colonial, creative, and vibrant essence.

Ensenada
Vineyards, ocean views, and adventure come together in this design celebrating Ensenada through icons such as the Wine Route, La Bufadora, and the Sierra de San Pedro Mártir National Park. Micheladas, fish tacos, and surfing evoke its relaxed, culinary-driven, and exploratory spirit.

Maztlan
Color, tradition, and the sea define this proposal inspired by Mazatlán, featuring icons such as the Malecón, Carnival, and Olas Altas. Elements like baseball, surfing, and tacos gobernador reflect its unmatched character.

Chihuahua
The design highlights the region’s natural grandeur and northern spirit through landmarks such as the Copper Canyon, the El Chepe train, and the Valley of the Monks. Elements like sotol, burritos, and Rarámuri crafts evoke the distinctive identity that defines this city.

Mérida
The artwork showcases Mérida’s cultural richness and Mayan heritage through landmarks such as Paseo de Montejo, cenotes, and Yucatecan haciendas. Elements like cochinita pibil, sopa de lima, agua de chaya, and hammocks evoke its traditional essence.

Querétaro
This proposal highlights Querétaro’s historical and natural richness through landmarks such as Peña de Bernal, the Aqueduct, and the Sierra Gorda. Elements like wine and cheese, gorditas, and enchiladas queretanas evoke its culinary tradition and cultural spirit.

Puebla
The artwork on the Puebla mugs highlights the city’s historical and culinary richness through landmarks such as the Great Pyramid of Cholula, the Popocatépetl volcano, and El Parián. Elements like mole poblano, chiles en nogada, and Talavera pottery evoke its traditional and colorful identity.

Leon
The design reflects León’s dynamism and industrial identity through landmarks such as the State Fair, Metropolitan Park, and the Fountain of the Lions. Elements like leather footwear, hot air balloons, and soccer evoke its entrepreneurial, festive, and sporty character.
Morelia
The design highlights Morelia’s historic elegance and cultural legacy through landmarks such as its Aqueduct, the Fuente de las Tarascas, and the International Film Festival. Elements like corundas, Paracho guitars, and the monarch butterfly evoke its artistic and local identity.

Oaxaca
The artwork on this mug celebrates Oaxaca’s cultural and ancestral richness through landmarks such as Monte Albán, the Tree of Tule, and the Guelaguetza. Elements like mezcal, alebrijes, black clay pottery, and traditional textiles evoke its vibrant, artisanal identity deeply rooted in tradition.

Chiapas
This piece pays tribute to Chiapas’ natural and cultural richness through landmarks such as Palenque, the Sumidero Canyon, and San Cristóbal de las Casas. Elements like coffee, traditional textiles, the jaguar, and the macaw evoke its ancestral, biodiverse identity deeply rooted in its heritage.

Acapulco
Through its design, the classic and tropical energy of Acapulco is evoked with iconic landmarks such as La Quebrada, the Costera Miguel Alemán, and Pie de la Cuesta. Elements like coconut, water skiing, and pescado a la talla reflect its truly distinctive spirit.

Veracruz
The design is synonymous to Veracruz’s joyful spirit and jarocho tradition, highlighting landmarks such as the Port of Veracruz, San Juan de Ulúa, and the Pico de Orizaba. Elements like the jarana guitar, coffee, and pescado a la veracruzana evoke the essence that defines it.

Zacatecas
The artwork highlights Zacatecas mining heritage and colonial charm through landmarks such as Cerro de la Bufa, the cable car, and the Plaza de Armas. Elements like silver, tamborazo music, and local cuisine evoke its historic, cultural, and proudly Zacatecan identity.
