The Starbucks Foundation and Alsea Foundation Support Earthquake Relief Efforts in Colombia
In response to the 7.4 magnitude earthquake that struck western Colombia on August 10, The Starbucks Foundation and Alsea Foundation have jointly committed a total of US$100,000 to the nonprofit organizations World Central Kitchen, Planet Water Foundation and World Vision to support immediate relief efforts. The funding will help provide meals to affected communities across the departments of Chocó, Caldas, Risaralda, Quindío and Valle del Cauca and support the deployment of emergency water filtration systems to provide access to safe drinking water.
In addition, Alsea Foundation through its emergency fund and in collaboration with Starbucks Colombia – operated by Alsea – is providing direct assistance to partners (employees) impacted by the emergency, ensuring they receive support and resources they need during this time.
Thank you to first responders, Starbucks Colombia partners and organizations on the ground supporting impacted communities.
