A Greener Holiday Season: Starbucks Mexico Encourages Reusable Cups to Reduce Environmental Impact

Mexico City - Starbucks Mexico - operated by licensed business partner Alsea -reinforces its commitment to the environment by promoting sustainable practices this holiday season. From December 3 to 12, customers at 18 select stores in Mexico City, Guadalajara, and Monterrey will have the opportunity to purchase and personalize reusable stainless steel tumblers—a practical, eco-friendly alternative to single-use products.

“At Starbucks, we aim to inspire our customers to make more responsible choices, especially during this season of increased consumption. Swapping disposable cups for reusable options may seem like a small act, but it can have a meaningful impact,” said Sarai Jiménez, Director of Reputation and Sustainability at Starbucks Mexico.

The activation kicks off on December 3 at the store located in Bosque de Chapultepec II Section, Mexico City, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. It will then move to the following locations in Mexico City:

• December 4: Lomas de Chapultepec, Miguel Hidalgo
• December 5: Peña Blanca, Álvaro Obregón
• December 6: Hipódromo, Cuauhtémoc
• December 7: Ampliación Granada, Miguel Hidalgo
• December 8: Chapultepec Morales, Miguel Hidalgo
• December 9: San Diego Churubusco, Coyoacán
• December 10: Ex Hacienda de Coapa, Coyoacán
• December 11: Villa Coyoacán, Coyoacán
• December 12: Satélite, Naucalpan
• December 13-14: Atizapán de Zaragoza, Atizapán de Zaragoza

In addition, the initiative will also take place in Guadalajara and Monterrey on the following dates:

• December 6: La Estancia, Zapopan, Guadalajara
• December 7: Lomas Altas, Zapopan, Guadalajara
• December 8: Los Gavilanes Poniente, Guadalajara
• December 10: Parque La Talaverna, San Nicolás, Monterrey
• December 11: Residencial Cumbres, Monterrey
• December 12: Residencial San Agustín, San Pedro Garza García, Monterrey

This initiative underscores Starbucks ongoing commitment to sustainability by encouraging responsible choices among its customers. As part of this effort, thousands beverages have been served in reusable cups over the past few years. Additionally, further promoting responsible practices, Starbucks offers an $8 MXN discount to customers who bring their own tumblers.

Since 2023, all new Starbucks stores in Mexico have operated under the Greener Store framework, ensuring high standards of energy efficiency, water management, and waste reduction. These actions not only celebrate sustainability but also invite customers and partners to actively participate in creating positive change.

Through these initiatives, Starbucks Mexico reaffirms its commitment to a greener future and environmental protection by adopting responsible and sustainable practices.
