In recognition of International Women’s Day, Starbucks Mexico, operated by Alsea, today debuted the new “Sirens of the Countryside” commemorative cup, a special edition design honoring the women coffee farmers of Mexico, whose expertise and dedication help produce the coffee that reaches millions of cups each day in Mexico and around the world.

The reusable cup celebrates the “Sirens of the Countryside,” encourages more sustainable consumption choices, and symbolizes Starbucks Mexico’s enduring commitment to the well-being of women in the coffee value chain.

Starting Thursday, March 5, 2026, the commemorative cup will be available at Starbucks Mexico coffeehouses for $32 pesos[1]. For the third consecutive year, a percentage of sales from this iconic item will be allocated to Pro Mujer for their Health Brigades program in coffee-growing communities in the states of Veracruz and Chiapas, key coffee growing regions for Mexican coffee. These brigades deploy mobile medical units to rural communities with limited access to preventive care.

According to the Mexican Institute for Competitiveness-IMCO, more than 62,000 women participate in coffee cultivation across Mexico, yet many still face structural barriers that limit their access to income and essential services such as healthcare.

“Women are the heart of coffee-growing communities in Mexico, and their resilience inspires everything we do,” said Sarai Jiménez, director of Brand Building and Reputation at Starbucks Mexico. “Through this commemorative cup and our partnership with Pro Mujer’s Health Brigades program, we honor their contributions and reaffirm our long-term commitment to their well-being and to the sustainable development of their communities.”

Strengthening Healthcare Access for Women in Coffee
Since 2024, Starbucks Mexico has partnered with Pro Mujer, a social enterprise with more than 35 years of work advancing toward gender equality, to bring the Health Brigades program to a variety of coffee-growing communities across Mexico – including Oxchuc in Tzontealja, Tzobojitle Jotoaquil, and Centro Chich in Chilón, all in the state of Chiapas. The initiative aims to expand access to essential medical services in rural areas with limited access to preventive care, helping reduce structural barriers that disproportionately affect women in these regions.

In the program’s first two years, more than 750 people have received care through over 7,340 health services. In the brigade held in March 2025 alone, 274 people were served through 4,898 medical services. All beneficiaries received preventive screenings for chronic degenerative diseases, enabling timely follow‑up and care pathways.

Later this month, Starbucks Mexico and Pro Mujer will carry out a new health brigade led by women general practitioners.
