    As part of its commitment to ensuring a sustainable future for Colombian coffee, Starbucks, operated by Alsea in Colombia, announced the donation of 5,000 native trees to coffee farmers in Huila. The trees were funded through contributions collected during the 2024 edition of Starbucks Colombia\u2019s \u201cJuntos por el Caf\u00e9\u201d program. The initiative aims to support the health and productivity of coffee farms by planting native trees that provide natural shade for coffee plants, helping regulate temperature, retain soil moisture and improve the overall quality of the plants.<\/p>\n<\/body>\n\n

    \u201cJuntos por el Caf\u00e9\u201d was launched in 2022 by Starbucks Colombia in collaboration with the Starbucks Farmer Support Center in Manizales. The program focuses on supporting coffee farmers through reforestation and training in sustainable agricultural practices. Since its launch, the initiative has provided native trees to coffee producers in Nari\u00f1o and Santander. Last year, the initiative supported over 150 farmers in the municipality of Garz\u00f3n, in Huila.<\/p>\n<\/body>\n\n

    \u201cThrough the \u2018Juntos por el Caf\u00e9\u2019 program, we reaffirm our commitment to local coffee farmers by supporting their well-being, their families and their communities, while continuing to work toward a sustainable future for Colombian coffee,\u201d said Claudia Aburto, director of Starbucks for Alsea South America.<\/p>\n<\/body>\n\n

    The delivery of the trees in Huila was made possible thanks to customers who, from July to August 2024, chose to purchase 100% Colombian coffee in half-pound formats, including Starbucks\u00ae Colombia Nari\u00f1o, \u00a0Starbucks\u00ae\u00a0 Colombia Medio and \u00a0Starbucks\u00ae\u00a0 Espresso Roast. For each purchase, Starbucks contributed a native tree to the cause, reinforcing its efforts to positively impact the environment and communities at origin. This year, the program aims to benefit coffee growers in Cundinamarca and Antioquia through the delivery of an additional 6,000 trees funded through the 2025 edition of \u201cJuntos por el Caf\u00e9\u201d.<\/p>\n<\/body>\n\n

    With more than five decades of sourcing, roasting and serving Colombian coffee, and with its Manizales Farmer Support Center active since 2012, Starbucks continues to strengthen its long-standing relationship with Colombia, working side by side with coffee growers to support sustainable practices, improve profitability and ensure the high quality of every cup.<\/p>\n<\/body>\n\n
