Since 1971, Starbucks has purchased coffee from local farmers and today, half of the company\u2019s coffee is sourced from coffee farmers in LAC.<\/p>\n<\/body>\n\n<body><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And now, 20 years since opening its first stores in Mexico and Puerto Rico, Starbucks is more committed than ever to investing in thriving communities across the region \u2013 including in a <a href=\"https:\/\/historias.starbucks.com\/en-es\/press\/2023\/starbucks-accelerates-growth-with-more-than-100-new-stores-planned-for-latin-america-and-the-caribbean-by-the-end-of-2023-announces-market-entry-into-guyana\/\">new market: Guyana<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/body>\n\n<body><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Starbucks recently surpassed its <a href=\"https:\/\/historias.starbucks.com\/en-es\/press\/2023\/starbucks-opens-first-drive-thru-store-in-dominican-republic-with-expansion-to-punta-cana\/\">1,600<sup>th<\/sup> store milestone in the region<\/a> and expects to open approximately 120 more stores by the end of 2023, continuing to meet the needs of local customers in the communities it serves.<\/p>\n<\/body>\n\n<body><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Closer to customers<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/body>\n\n<body><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Every day Starbucks works towards creating unique experiences that reflect the values and history of the local community. Part of that, of course, comes from Starbucks stores, where customers can enjoy their favorite hot or cold espresso-based beverages in a comfortable and welcoming environment. <em><\/em><\/p>\n<\/body>\n\n<body><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As the company opens more stores in new cities, the focus will remain on meeting our customers\u2019 needs, emphasizing on-the-go lifestyles and growth in new drive-thru stores. Since early 2022, Starbucks has opened nearly 50 drive thrus regionally, including five first-in-market drive-thru stores.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/body>\n\n<body><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The first, located in Cali, <a href=\"https:\/\/historias.starbucks.com\/en-es\/press\/2022\/starbucks-surpasses-50-stores-in-colombia-opens-its-first-drive-thru\/\">Colombia<\/a>, features a mural inspired by the city and its people, depicting the local music (salsa) and dance traditions. In <a href=\"https:\/\/historias.starbucks.com\/en-es\/press\/2022\/starbucks-opens-first-drive-thru-store-in-barbados\/\">Barbados<\/a>, the building that houses Starbucks El Sue\u00f1o drive-thru was once a lighthouse that dates back to 1910 and is located close to Worthing Beach. The stores in <a href=\"https:\/\/historias.starbucks.com\/en-es\/press\/2022\/starbucks-expands-store-portfolio-in-the-bahamas-unveils-its-first-drive-thru\/\">The Bahamas<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/historias.starbucks.com\/en-es\/press\/2022\/starbucks-opens-first-drive-thru-store-in-jamaica\/\">Jamaica<\/a> are specially designed to provide a unique, on-the-go experience, featuring beautiful designs and murals that create inviting atmospheres for customers who come and wish to stay awhile.
