Colombia - Today, as part of its regional expansion plan, Alsea, the licensed retail operator of Starbucks in Colombia, is celebrating the opening of more than 50 Starbucks stores in Colombia and its first drive-thru store in the market, which is located in the city of Cali.

With this new store built in Cali, a vibrant city in western Colombia and the world capital of salsa, Starbucks aims to balance speed and quality while differentiating the customer experience. Located at Cañas Gordas Avenue 18 #118-150 in Barrio Pance, which is near a university and just off a major road that connects to Cali’s southern neighborhoods, the drive-thru store is specially designed to provide a unique on-the-go experience in a safe and familiar way, while continuing to elevate the Starbucks Experience in relevant ways to local customers.

"This new space not only confirms our commitment to the Colombian market, but also our dedication to generate more jobs here in the capital of the Valley, with 18 new Starbucks Colombia partners (employees) joining our team," Castaño pointed out.

Since the brand arrived in Colombia in 2014, it has reinforced its commitment to the market and job creation. Starbucks Colombia now has more than 600 partners proudly wearing the green apron, of which 84 are based in Cali. Starbucks currently has a presence in Cali, Bogotá,&nbsp;Medellín,&nbsp; Barranquilla, and Cartagena.&nbsp;&nbsp;

The design of the store includes a mural by Colombian artist Alejandro Paucar in his unique style. The artwork is inspired by Cali and its people, by the local music and dance traditions. The painting aims to capture the joy and energy of the “carnival” as a celebration of life; the goal of the piece is to help uplift the everyday of Starbucks customers and partners in this new location.

• To wrap up a significant year of giving back to the community and in celebration of International Volunteer Day, Starbucks Mexico, in partnership with P.O.L.A. Foundation, hosted an event to bring happiness to 200 children suffering from complex diseases such as kidney failure, cancer, diabetes, and cystic fibrosis.

• This year, over 740 Starbucks Mexico stores participated in volunteering actions throughout the market, supporting 165 environmental projects with the help and enthusiasm of more than 1,430 green apron partners (employees).

Mexico City – Starbucks Mexico today announced its last larger-scale volunteering action of the year in collaboration with P.O.L.A. Foundation, a nonprofit organization that supports children suffering from complex diseases by providing them with basic necessities and moments of joy. The event took place in Hacienda San Andrés, Naucalpan, located near Mexico City, and also marked the celebration of International Volunteer Day.

This activity is part of the Starbucks Mexico Volunteering program, an initiative born in 2011 to invite partners (employees) and customers to volunteer their time to support local communities in which the company has a presence. Over the years, the program has supported more than 3,000 volunteer projects that have had an impact on vulnerable communities and supported other organizations that seek to have a positive impact on the environment and the community.

Since the beginning, Starbucks has set out to be a different kind of company, deeply rooted in its mission to inspire and nature the human spirit – one person, one cup, one neighborhood at a time. “We appreciate Starbucks collaboration as volunteers in community work in the chinampera area of ​​Xochimilco,” said Gabriela Alcantar López, Biologist at Umbral Axochiatl, organization dedicated to the conservation, restoration, and rescue of the lake area. “Starbucks volunteers supported a chinampero corn producer in transplanting corn, which is important to continue with the work of rescuing local seeds, increasing the cultivation of chinampero corn, and promoting crops that allow a respectful and agroecological management of the natural area resources (soil, water, biodiversity).”

As part of the volunteer actions, since 2019, Starbucks presented their Community Champion Award to those partners who have gone above and beyond by embracing their communities, leading volunteer efforts, and inspiring others to strengthen their neighborhoods through positive impact actions. Mildred Nuñez, Cancun District Manager, was the 2022 award winner, highlighting the actions she took in the face of natural disasters, beach cleanups, and engaging her partners in community service activities.

São Paulo – Starting today, Starbucks Brazil announces its new seasonal menu of holiday sweets and desserts, now available in all stores across the market. Along with holiday beverages, Starbucks brings back some of Brazilians’ favorite baked goods such as the Chocolate and Hazelnut Panettone and Unicorn Cake, and introduces the brand-new Red Velvet Panettone, in addition to festive, delicious novelties including giftable items for loved ones.

"In this holiday season, we aim to share the magic that prevails in our stores for festivities and celebrations with our partners (employees) and customers. Adding to our exclusive holiday beverages that launched in early November, Starbucks Brazil now presents its complete holiday menu, adding sweets and goodies for all tastes and occasions," said Sedenir Junior, marketing manager at Starbucks Brazil.

Starbucks Brazil brings back the long-awaited Chocolate and Hazelnut Panettone and introduces Red Velvet Panettone, both naturally fermented and great options for those who want to share a magical moment with those they love. Additionally, Starbucks Brazil is now selling its Box of Stuffed Cookies, made with handmade, soft dough, available in cinnamon, dulce de leche and walnut and caramel.

For customers who prefer to enjoy these new items in-store, Starbucks Brazil Holiday menu also includes the festive and colorful Unicorn Cake made from soft dough with a delicious cream cheese filling.

Launched at the start of the Holiday campaign in November, Starbucks seasonal beverages include Starbucks® Holiday Cinnamon, the beloved Starbucks® Strawberry Mocha and Starbucks® Hazelnut Caramel, as well as the Starbucks® Christmas blend 2022 and Starbucks® Christmas Blonde Roast 2022 special coffees available in stores across Brazil.

Donations will go to the Jovem Falcão educational program, which provides young people from suburban communities with the tools—such as socio-emotional skills, professional qualifications—to become the protagonists of their own stories through courses and experience to develop employability skills. Each level of donated stars is equivalent to a period of training for program participants. Southern Cone – Seeking to bring magic and moments of happiness to the community, today Starbucks South Cone announced it will invite its customers in Argentina, Chile, and Uruguay to participate in an initiative that will support over 70 local NGOs through the delivery of donated gifts. In return, between December 1 and 18, the company will give away a free Tall-size Coffee of the Day to customers who bring gifts to donation baskets located at Starbucks stores across the South Cone region.

In each store, customers will find the name of the NGO the Starbucks location is collaborating with, information about the gift beneficiaries, and a list of pre-selected items customers can donate. Gifts will go to NGOs dedicated to a variety of causes, including helping children with cancer, assisting elderly that live alone, supporting rescue animals, and more. 

“One of the most awaited and inspiring seasons is upon us. In addition to our classic customer-favorite beverages and products, this year we celebrate the season by collaborating with local NGOS in our community and inviting customers to bring gifts to our stores to share holiday joy and magic,” said Soledad Fantuzzi, Marketing Manager of Starbucks South Cone. “Delivering smiles is one of the goals of this initiative, and we will continue to promote actions that bring us closer to the community we serve.”

All donated gifts brought to stores as part of this initiative must be new, useful products requested by the selected NGO and should be gift wrapped at the time of donation.

The Global Community Impact Grant in Peru will improve classroom quality and teacher skills to allow youth to thrive.

As part of <a href="https://stories.starbucks.com/stories/the-starbucks-foundation/">The Starbucks Foundation’s</a> Global Community Impact Grants program and in celebration of Starbucks Peru 19th anniversary, Delosi has co-invested in a grant to support Transforma, a nonprofit in Peru. Through this unique program, Delosi nominated Transforma to support locally relevant community impact. In addition to the $100,000 awarded by The Starbucks Foundation to Transforma, Delosi is providing in-kind support for the design of the campaign, implementation of materials and advice on media investment to support the development of early childhood education programs for coffee-growing communities in Peru.

“Delosi and Starbucks Peru seek to generate a positive impact in our community; therefore, we have a great commitment to the development and growth of the market. For us, nothing can help a person to improve their conditions and quality of life more than education. For this reason, Transforma is the ideal ally to help enhance primary education in vulnerable areas where a large part of the coffee community is located,” said Cristel Delgado, Operations Manager at Starbucks Peru and Bolivia.

Transforma, Delosi, and The Starbucks Foundation came together to create a positive impact in the daily lives of the children in coffee-growing areas of Peru, including Cajamarca, Junin, San Martin and Pasco. The project provides the necessary support to educational institutions intending to close the gaps in child development indicators for children between 2 and 5 years old and their families. Transforma will aim to improve the quality of interaction between children and educators as a key factor in promoting basic skills in girls and boys, such as emotional regulation, creative thinking, and language development.

The grant will allow the offering of digital learning platform for teachers and school administrators to access content and tools to help improve the quality of their educational services. In addition, a team of volunteer partners (employees) will contribute to the quality of services in the targeted schools and promote for the rights of early childhood to access quality services.

“This is a very important moment for Transforma. We have been selected by The Starbucks Foundation to develop rural areas across the market, and this grant will allow us to expand the scope of our programs and have a positive impact on the lives of many families. Achieving improvements in the quality of services aimed at early childhood is key to their current quality of life and the development of the market” indicated Verónica Beytia, Executive Director of Transforma.

Announced in March 2022, The Starbucks Foundation’s <a href="https://stories.starbucks.com/press/2022/the-starbucks-foundation-launches-global-community-impact-grants-initiative/">Global Community Impact Grants</a> initiative is a $30 million investment by 2030 to drive impact across the focus areas of youth empowerment, inclusion &amp; diversity, social services, hunger relief, economic opportunity, and coffee-, tea- and cocoa-growing communities. With more than 90 grants awarded across 40+ markets in its inaugural year, the program expands on the company’s people positive ambition to enhance the well-being of all who connect with Starbucks. It builds on other initiatives of The Starbucks Foundation – including Neighborhood Grants, Origin Grants, and Disaster Response Grants – which focus on enabling community resiliency and prosperity as well as uplifting communities affected by a disaster.

Caramel Day, called DiaMaria Luisa pela Educação until 2017,was created in honor of Maria Luisa Rodenbeck, responsible for the arrival of Starbucks in Brazil and whose favorite drink was the Starbucks® Caramel Macchiato. With this new store, Starbucks Bahamas aims to balance speed and quality while differentiating the customer experience. Located just off the main thoroughfare of Prince Charles Drive, the drive-thru store is specially designed to provide a unique on-the-go experience in a safe and familiar way, while continuing to elevate the Starbucks Experience for customers in The Bahamas. The new location will create 18 new jobs and marks Starbucks 14th store since arriving in the market in 2005, with over 150 partners (employees) proudly wearing the green apron nationwide.

The Starbucks drive-thru, as its name implies, has been designed to serve our customers through the drive thru window, with a majority of sales running through that channel. Additional sales channels are also available for customers and include both our traditional interior café and for those that choose to park, walk-up and order to go, our mobile order and pay pick up window conveniently accessible from the sidewalk. The new drive-thru store features a unique design, with finishes inside that create a warm, serene, and inviting atmosphere, including walnut wood, pale greens, and a textured wallcovering. The wall artwork features tropical birds and plants among coffee plants, giving the space an uplifting, colorful layer.

Starbucks recognizes its responsibility to strengthen the communities where it operates. Earlier this year, The Starbucks Foundation awarded a <a href="https://stories.starbucks.com/stories/global-community-impact-grants/">Global Community Impact Grant</a> to Project I.C.E. Bahamas, supporting communities in Nassau, New Providence to establish a fully functional farming program to produce vegetables and fruits to deprived communities and any part of the population demonstrably in need. As part of the program, Starbucks Bahamas partners volunteered Project I.C.E., helping to plant and clean a community garden.

Holetown, Barbados - As part of its continued expansion plans in the market, Caribbean Coffee Traders Limited (CCTL), Starbucks operating licensee in Barbados, today announced more customers can enjoy the Starbucks Experience in a new Starbucks kiosk in the city of Holetown. The new kiosk location, located in Massy Stores Supermarket Sunset Crest, is the third Starbucks store in Barbados and will offer customers a convenient way to get their favorite beverages and food while visiting Barbados’ renowned platinum coast.

“Our new store in Holetown not only speaks to our efforts to bring Barbadian customers the highest quality arabica coffee but also our commitment to community inclusion and job creation, as we have hired eight additional partners (employees) to join our team,” said Roxanne Dixon-Rose, Regional Director of Caribbean Coffee Traders Limited. “Our store location is in a high traffic area, and we want to ensure that both locals and tourists are provided with a taste of the Starbucks Experience infused with Barbadian culture. We are thrilled to celebrate this new city entry in Barbados and look forward to serving the community of Holetown.”

Starbucks kiosk stores are available in an optimized footprint, configurable with a variety of options for the pastry case, number of registers, canopy configurations, and optional program integration. When space allows, this store format can also provide the full café experience to our customers. The 300 square ft kiosk now open in Holetown will offer perks such as an outside seating area for customers to dine.

Customers visiting the Holetown kiosk can enjoy a wide variety of Starbucks beverages with the option to personalize to their preference. Starbucks Holetown offerings will include all classic Starbucks beverages, as well as a variety of seasonal innovations.

Through this format, the company continues to enhance the unique customer experience across new and convenient locations. Starbucks Barbados welcomes its customers to the Holetown store from Monday to Saturday (8:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.) and on Sunday (9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.).

The Starbucks Holetown store opening builds on CCTL’s long-term commitment to the Barbados market and bringing the Starbucks Experience to even more customers across Latin American and the Caribbean. Seattle, WA – As Starbucks marks its 20th anniversary in Latin America and the Caribbean, the company celebrated its green apron partners and their passion for coffee at the 7th Starbucks Latin America &amp; the Caribbean Barista (LAC) Championship. After a two-year hiatus for live events due to COVID-19, this in-person competition returned to the region to recognize leading barista talent, testing <a href="https://historias.starbucks.com/en-es/stories/2022/starbucks-lac-barista-championship/">top baristas</a> from every Starbucks store across LAC markets and recognizing the best-in-the class of Starbucks coffee craft expertise.

This year’s Starbucks LAC Barista Championship was hosted live from Costa Rica and Starbucks coffee farm and global agronomy headquarters, Hacienda Alsacia, located on the slopes of Poás Volcano, an hour from the capital city of San Jose. As a natural location for this event, Hacienda Alsacia’s mission is to ensure the future of coffee for all by supporting coffee farmers and promoting sustainable farming, including sharing a variety of best practices freely with farmers around the world.

Following three days of competition in which partners showcased their craft and artistry through multiple rounds of complex coffee challenges, including espresso shot pulling, milk steaming, latte art and beverage innovation, regional champion Camila from Argentina took the prestigious crown of Starbucks LAC Barista Champion. Following the competition, a celebration took place at the beautiful landscape of Hacienda Alsacia, recognizing all Starbucks national barista champions and their achievements.

“I am very grateful for all my green apron partners. Not only for today but for these past days spent together. For making them beautiful, full of love, affection, and hugs – it was incredible!” said LAC Barista Champion Camila during the awards ceremony at Hacienda Alsacia. “Today, I not only walk away with coffee knowledge, but also, I take back an entire Starbucks family. I know that each one of us will return home, but we will stay connected through video calls and creating coffee action plans. I’m grateful and my cup is full.”

First-of-its-kind operation in the global financial market structured by the Greentech Brasil Mata Viva (BMV) will direct resources towards sustainable actions across Brazil.

São Paulo – Starbucks Brazil, locally operated by SouthRock, today announced a collaboration with BV, to issue a Green Private Commercial Note worth 20 million BRL. The operation, structured by BMV, a green tech company, is the first of its kind to be carried out in the Global financial market to use Sustainability Credit Units (Unidade de Crédito de Sustentabilidade - UCS), an ESG environmental commodity that finances the conservation of forests to enable the transaction. In line with Starbucks global planet commitments and the values practiced by SouthRock, resources will be directed towards sustainable actions in Brazil, such as carbon footprint offset.

“In 2020, Starbucks made a commitment to become a resource positive company, formalizing environmental goals to reduce carbon emissions, water use and waste by 2030. It is with great pride that we announce this partnership with BV, as a way of continuing to honor our commitment to protecting the planet we share,” said Claudia Malaguerra, Managing Director for Starbucks Brazil.

Responsible for financing the solution, BV becomes the first bank to carry out this type of operation in the Brazilian market. "The Green Private Commercial Note is a way to engage our clients in identifying and reducing their environmental impact. We are proud to have structured this unprecedented operation," said Rogerio Monori, Executive Director of Corporate &amp; Investment Banking and Treasury at Banco BV.

Under the structuring of BMV Group, the partnership gains scale, and the necessary know-how to expand its impact locally. “Bringing BV and Starbucks Brazil together in an unprecedented operation in the financial market is a milestone for BMV Group, as it shows that investing in the environment is good business, both reputational and financial. Operations like these reinforce our leading role in the green finance market, where we were the first institution to issue the Green CPR with registration at B3,” said Maria Tereza Umbelino, CEO of BMV.

All the Sustainability Credit Units transactioned by BMV are from areas of native forests preserved by over 200 rural producers of different sizes and regions in Brazil, providing a way to obtain environmental rentability. In this way, proceeds from the sale of UCS to Starbucks Brazil will be allocated to biodiversity conservation and best practices for land use with sustainable development.

UCS is the environmental commodity that goes beyond carbon, covering a total of 27 ecosystem services provided by the standing forest, such as climate regulation, hydrological flow, and fauna preservation. The methodology developed by BMV has the scientific support of the Universidade Estadual Paulista - Unesp and the entire protocol is approved by the world's leading certifier, the Swiss SGS, in addition to using technologies such as blockchain, which allow the traceability of issued financial securities. Additionally, all the forests that integrate the projects rely on satellite monitoring and periodic field inspections.

Currently, over a million hectares of native forest are preserved in seven groups from BMV: Xingu, Teles Pires, Madeira, Arinos, Amapá, Roosevelt and Guariba, in states of the North and Center-West regions of Brazil.

The commercial notes are a new product in the Brazilian financial market, ruled by the Law nº 14.195, enacted on August 26, 2021, and they have more flexible rules than other financial instruments. The Green BV Note is the first of its kind in the private market due to the commitment signed between BV and Starbucks Brazil to produce sustainable impact reports.

São Paulo – Starbucks Brazil today announces its special holiday menu, now available in all the stores across the market. In this campaign, customers will be able to enjoy the new beverage Starbucks® Holiday Cinnamon and the return of the Starbucks® Hazelnut Caramel and Starbucks® Merry Strawberry Mocha beverage families. In a celebratory mood, all Starbucks Brazil stores have adopted the colors of the season, with themed decorations and swapping the traditional green aprons for festive red ones.

"One of Starbucks pillars is connection and this holiday season we want to celebrate by promoting unity between people. Nothing says the most magical time of the year is here quite like a Starbucks red cup, as well as our extensive menu of seasonal favorites, full of treats to be shared and gifted to those we love," said Sedenir Junior, Marketing Manager at Starbucks Brazil.

As part of the Holiday menu, Starbucks Brazil welcomes back two special whole bean coffees, Starbucks® Christmas Blend and Starbucks® Christmas Blonde Roast, as well as new options that will hit stores in the coming weeks, such as the brand's long-awaited Panettones and other delicious surprises. Reusable cups and tumblers in special editions for the season, which are great gift options, will also be available in stores.

As another way to celebrate this moment with loved ones, Starbucks Brazil launched this year a new feature in the Starbucks Brazil App – an e-gifting store where customers can send gifts to whomever they want. The card is rechargeable and can be used for the purchase of beverages, food, whole bean coffee, mugs, cups and tumblers sold by the brand.

As part of the Starbucks Rewards program, with every R$2.50 spent, customers will earn a star to collect and exchange items from the store.
