Puerto Montt - As part of its ongoing expansion plans in the market, Starbucks Chile – operated by licensed business partner Alsea – today announced the arrival of the company’s first store in Puerto Montt, a thriving tourist destination and fishing port in southern Chile. The new location invites customers to enjoy customer-favorite Starbucks menu items, such as the Caramel Frappuccino® blended beverage, flavored lattes, hot and iced coffee varieties, and a wide selection of sandwiches and desserts.

“We are delighted to bring the Starbucks Experience to customers in Puerto Montt, expanding our presence in southern Chile. Our store designers have created a space that highlights the beauty of this historic southern location and the moments of connection over coffee enjoyed by so many of our customers,” said Soledad Fantuzzi, marketing manager for Starbucks South Cone.

Across the globe, Starbucks designs its stores to foster the human connection that can be made over a cup of coffee and to reflect the international communities the company serves. The new Puerto Montt café features a unique design inspired by the history of the city with artwork and décor representative of the region and locally sourced products and materials. The space is designed to act as a Third Place to Chilean customers by providing a warm and welcoming gathering spot where all can enjoy high-quality arabica coffee from Latin America and around the world, handcrafted by passionate baristas.

Since entering Chile in 2003 with its first store in Santiago, Starbucks remains committed to its Chilean customers and the communities it serves. The new Puerto Montt location marks the 157th store in Chile, with more than 2,000 Starbucks Chile partners (employees) proudly wearing the green apron across the market. The Puerto Montt store will create jobs for 15 Starbucks Chile partners.

Mexico City - As part of its commitment to elevate the digital customer experience, Starbucks Mexico – managed by licensed business operator Alsea – today announced an update to its Starbucks® Rewards platform, diversifying payment methods and learning into technology so that program members continue to receive benefits including free food and beverages.

Starbucks® Rewards is the company’s loyalty program developed to enhance its digital relationships with its customers, rewarding them in a more personalized and convenient way. Starbucks® Rewards is a purchase-based program, offering members Stars based on the amount they spend on eligible purchases. Once a customer has created an account, they can scan their Starbucks Mexico Rewards App and earn Stars toward free items.

Previously, the only way to earn and accumulate Stars required a physical or digital Starbucks Card, which had to be reloaded with credit in order to make a purchase at any of the 780+ Starbucks stores in Mexico. With the launch of the “Stars for Everyone” program, new and existing Starbucks® Rewards members will be able to use different payment methods – including cash and bank cards – to earn and accumulate Stars, without the need to pre-load a Starbucks Card.

Under the current scheme, members who pay with a Starbucks Card can earn one (1) Star for every $10 pesos spent in-store and Starbucks Mexico Rewards App and redeem them for benefits such as their favorite drink or meal. Through the “Stars for Everyone” introduction, payments made with cash and/or bank cards without reloading will earn one (1) Star for every $20 spent.

Starbucks® Rewards offer two tiers: Green and Gold. The Green level will have advantages including gifting a complimentary drink the month of a customer’s birthday, refilling Coffee of the Day free of charge, and enjoying exclusive promotions and events. By accumulating 200 stars, customers are upgraded to a Gold level, and will receive Green level benefits as well as other exclusive benefits such as a Gold level welcome bakery item, a free Starbucks beverage or bakery item for every 100 Stars accumulated, 15 stars on each anniversary and a digital gold card.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Sao Paulo – To celebrate the start of the winter season, Starbucks Brazil – locally operated by SouthRock – today announced the return of the iconic Starbucks® Churros beverage family and the launch of new Starbucks® Bombom beverages as part of the seasonal menu, with versions that match the varied Brazilian Winter. The brand also launched Starbucks® Perú Mujeres de Junín, a new single-origin coffee rich in history and flavor. Customers can now try the new and returning winter menu items by visiting Starbucks locations across the market.

The customer-favorite Starbucks® Churros beverage family makes a return to the market, featuring the perfect combination of traditional doce de leite paired with the subtlety of cinnamon. Churro lovers can enjoy the drink in a variety of ways, from latte to iced or Frappuccino® versions – starting at R$ 17.00 or through the redemption of 70 Starbucks Rewards stars – or as an espresso, starting at R$ 10.50, or through the redemption of 30 Starbucks Rewards® stars.

The new Starbucks® Bombom beverage family combines decadent white mocha with the rich flavor of hazelnut and crispy chocochip, referencing traditional Brazilian chocolate truffles. The new flavor was created by partner Lorena Santos in 2021, during the Barista Build Beverage campaign, and became a great success throughout Latin America. This combination, which quickly became a fan-favorite in the region, now arrives in Brazil available as a latte, iced, or blended as a Frappuccino® – from R$ 17.00 or through the redemption of 70 Starbucks Rewards stars.

Also new to the menu, customers will be able to enjoy the Starbucks® Single-Origin Perú Mujeres de JunÍn whole bean coffee. This medium-roasted coffee is grown by an all women farmer producers association from the Junín region located in the central plateau of Peru - an area full of culture and biodiversity. The launch of this new coffee represents the love and passion that women farmers deliver in everything they do and encompasses part of the Junín women's story, while demonstrating Starbucks commitment to responsibly sourcing coffee and empowering women farmers. Featuring notes of sweet meringue and chocolate, Starbucks® Single-Origin Perú Mujeres de JunÍn promises to surprise coffee lovers with every sip.

The packaging artwork was inspired by Mother Earth, known in Latin America as Pachamama (Mother Earth), who presides over planting and harvesting. The design also incorporates mountains and valleys that shape the region’s nature and culture, creating a combination of vibrant colors that creates a sense of warmth while recognizing significant local traditions. The graphic shape of the cloud alludes to the aroma of coffee beans and pays homage to the spirit of artisanal excellence. Starbucks® Single-Origin Perú Mujeres de JunÍn whole bean coffee will be available in stores across the market until August 21, for R$ 53.00 or by redeeming 150 Starbucks Rewards stars.

Customers who purchase the whole bean coffee in stores have the option to have it ground by baristas for free, according to their preferred method of preparation. Additionally, Starbucks Rewards members receive one star for every R$3.50 spent on products to collect and exchange for in-store items, including seasonal menu items. Orders can be made and beverages customized using the Starbucks Brasil app.

As part of the Ads for Good campaign, now in its third year, Starbucks South Cone will display 15 creative pieces made by local agencies Argentina, Chile and Uruguay. The selected artists were tasked with reflecting on inclusion &amp; diversity topics, addressing them as a relevant social challenge for the community and promoting a culture of respect and non-discrimination. The initiative was carried out within the framework of Pride Month and to reinforce Starbucks South Cone’s inclusion and diversity policy, first launched in 2021.

Starbucks South Cone strives to create a warm and welcoming environment and operate stores free of discrimination of partners, customers and communities. The recognition of all communities reinforces the objective of Starbucks Cone South to create a more inclusive and diverse workplace for Starbucks South Cone partners (employees) as a long-term ally and advocate for the LGBTQI+ community.

Mexico City - Reinforcing its commitment to Mexican coffee farmers, Starbucks Mexico – operated by licensed retail partner Alsea – today announced the return of the “We All Grow Coffee” (“Todos Sembramos Café”) program where rust-resistant coffee plants are donated to local farmers across Mexico.

This year, Starbucks Mexico has set the goal of donating more than 625,000 rust-resistant coffee plants through customer, partner (employee) and company donations, in an effort to benefit five coffee-growing states across the Mexican Republic. Among the states that will benefit from this initiative, Chiapas will receive more than 200,000 plants, Puebla will receive 150,000 plants, Oaxaca will receive 100,000 plants, and Veracruz will receive 125,000 plants. As the most recently added state to the program, Nayarit will receive 50,000 plants.

This year, Starbucks México will also allocate one million pesos for the construction of a classroom for local children in La Huasteca, Veracruz. This classroom will be located at the Poxtla Farm and will benefit 150 families of coffee growers in the area and more than 50 children who will continue to attend their classes without delaying their academic cycle.

Reflecting on “Todos Sembramos Café” Impact

Starbucks commitment to ensuring a <a href="https://stories.starbucks.com/stories/2021/working-to-create-a-more-sustainable-future-of-coffee-for-all/">sustainable future of coffee for all</a> begins with strengthening coffee-growing communities around the world. The “Todos Sembramos Café” program was created in Mexico in 2014, in collaboration with Starbucks trusted licensee Alsea. The program was initially designed in response to a decline in coffee production due to rust attacking coffee plants. The program aims to assist coffee growers by replacing their diseased crops with rust-resistant coffee plants.

Throughout the eight years of the "Todos Sembramos Café" program’s existence, Starbucks Mexico has donated over 4.2 million rust-resistant coffee plants to coffee farmers in Chiapas, Oaxaca, Puebla, and Veracruz.

“Todos Sembramos Café” inspired the creation of Starbucks global “One Tree for Every Bag” initiative in 2015, followed by the Starbucks Mexico “100 million Trees Commitment” in 2017. In 2023, Colombia – also operated by Alsea – launched a similar initiative to support local coffee growers with the donation of native trees.

In 2022, through the invaluable support and contributions from customers and partners, Starbucks Mexico donated 647,000 rust-resistant coffee plants to 72 coffee growers in Chiapas, Oaxaca, Puebla and, for the first time, Veracruz. As part of the arrival of "Todos Sembramos Café" in Veracruz, Starbucks México – in alliance with the Autonomous University of Chapingo – installed a soil analysis laboratory through which local coffee growers can assess soil nutrient levels and receive cost-effective fertilization recommendations. The work taking place at the laboratory will ensure optimal coffee cultivation through a quick and affordable diagnosis of nutrients in their farms.

Starbucks launches a new single-origin coffee sourced exclusively from a group of women farmers in the Junín region of Peru, positively impacting the community and uplifting women.

Seattle, Washington, June 27 – Today,Starbucks proudly introduces Starbucks® Perú Mujeres de Junín, a medium roast celebrating the exceptional virtues of Peruvian coffee. Inspired by Pachamama, or “Earth Mother,” this exquisite single-origin blend will be available in 20 markets across the Latin America and the Caribbean region from June 27 to August 21, 2023, as part of Starbucks <a href="https://historias.starbucks.com/en-es/press/2023/summer-beverages-coffee-and-merchandise-4/">Summer 2</a>/<a href="https://historias.starbucks.com/en-es/press/2023/winter-beverages-coffee-and-merchandise-2">Winter</a> seasonal campaign.

Starbucks® Perú Mujeres de Junín was produced by a group of over 130 women-farmers, part of a larger producer association known as “Caniari”, located in the Junín region of Central Peru. Though the company has worked with Caniari for several years, this is the first time Starbucks has sourced from this group exclusively.&nbsp;

Starbucks has offered coffee from Peru since 1971, with a blend from the Chanchamayo region on the company’s original menu. Today, Starbucks® Perú Mujeres de Junín launches in celebration of 20 years since Starbucks first opened stores in Peru and the rich history and passion shared with customers and partners (employees) in the region.

Representing Love and Passion

Starbucks® Perú Mujeres de Junín represents the love and passion that women coffee farmers deliver in everything they do and encompasses part of <a href="https://historias.starbucks.com/en-es/stories/2023/this-tribute-to-women/">their story</a>. The dedication of Latin American women is one of the most important ingredients to create lands where both coffee and the dreams of coffee growers can sustain generations.

With the launch of Starbucks® Perú Mujeres de Junín – and through the support of the <a href="https://historias.starbucks.com/en-es/press/2023/starbucks-expands-we-are-all-coffee-initiative-to-support-coffee-growers-in-the-junin-region/">“We Are All Coffee” (“Todos Somos Café”) initiative</a> – Starbucks Peru and Starbucks Coffee Company will be funding 40 coffee drying beds and a coffee quality lab for the community of Pangoa in Junín. This will have a significant impact on the quality of coffee production, as it will allow local coffee growers to better evaluate important characteristics of the coffee, such as aroma, flavor, and acidity.

The “We Are All Coffee” initiative complements The Starbucks Foundation’s <a href="https://stories.starbucks.com/press/2022/the-starbucks-foundation-commits-to-uplift-one-million-women-and-girls-in-origin-communities-by-2030/">goal</a> to positively impact 1 million women and girls in coffee-, tea- and cocoa-growing communities by 2030. Earlier this year, The Starbucks Foundation and international nonprofit <a href="https://www.technoserve.org/">TechnoServe</a> announced the <a href="https://historias.starbucks.com/en-es/press/2023/the-starbucks-foundation-and-technoserve-partner-to-empower-women-in-coffee-farming-households-in-peru/">launch of the Mujeres CAFÉ initiative</a> to help uplift women in Peruvian coffee communities. Data from TechnoServe shows that, on average, men earn 29% more than women farmers overall and 45% more from coffee sales. Women-led farms face several obstacles to profiting equally from the coffee sector, including less access to land, agricultural training, and financing.

Leveraging the work of <a href="https://www.technoserve.org/our-work/projects/coffee-alliance-for-excellence/">the Coffee Alliance for Excellence (CAFE) program</a>, a USAID initiative, Mujeres CAFÉ will work with 1,300 women in coffee farming communities across Peru to develop their leadership and communications skills and take on a greater role in household and community decision-making.

Colombia – In recognition of National Coffee Day on June 27, Starbucks Colombia – operated by licensed retail partner Alsea – today announced the launch of its “Together for Coffee” ("Juntos por el Café") program, reinforcing Starbucks commitment to <a href="https://stories.starbucks.com/stories/2021/working-to-create-a-more-sustainable-future-of-coffee-for-all/">ensure a sustainable future of coffee for all</a>. The program, which sees a portion of proceeds of whole bean coffee sales donated to support local coffee farmers, marks a significant milestone in the brand’s dedication to address the ongoing climate challenges coffee farmers encounter in their work.

The “Together for Coffee” launch builds on a pilot program implemented in 2022 by Starbucks Colombia and the Starbucks Farmer Support Center in Manizales to donate 1,500 native trees to coffee growers in <a>Nariño</a>. The trees provided necessary shade to coffee plants, reducing the temperature of the crops and ensuring higher quality of beans and increased profitability for local&nbsp;coffee farmers. This year, Starbucks Colombia has set the goal of donating an additional 2,000 native trees to coffee growers in Colombia through customer and partner (employee) donations.

“'Juntos por el Café' exemplifies our ongoing commitment to coffee growers in Colombia and reinforces our determination to tackle climate challenges,” said Juan Pablo Castaño, country manager of Alsea Colombia. &nbsp;“We are excited to launch this program on National Coffee Day, a momentous occasion to celebrate Colombia's rich coffee tradition."

From June 27 to August 27, customers can support sustainable coffee growing practices by visiting their local Starbucks Colombia store where:

In addition to tree donations, Starbucks Colombia is collaborating with the Manizales Starbucks Farmer Support Center to continue supporting Colombian coffee growers throughout the year. Working one-on-one with farmers in the field, supporting coops and suppliers, agronomists at <a href="https://stories.starbucks.com/press/2018/starbucks-farmer-support-centers/">Starbucks Farmer Support Centers</a> build upon traditional growing methods to help farmers improve both the quality and profitability of their crops. On International Women's Day (IWD) in 2023, Starbucks Colombia and the Starbucks Farmer Support Center joined forces to donate the proceeds from the sales of Starbucks IWD-themed reusable cups to the Association of Women Coffee Growers of Western Huila to continue supporting the role of the woman coffee farmers.

The Starbucks Foundation is also supporting several projects in Colombia as part of its <a href="https://stories.starbucks.com/press/2022/the-starbucks-foundation-commits-to-uplift-one-million-women-and-girls-in-origin-communities-by-2030/">goal to positively impact 1 million women and girls in coffee, tea and cocoa-growing communities</a> around the world by 2030. Through grants to Mercy Corps, The Starbucks Foundation is promoting gender equality training, expanding access to clean water and improving waste management for women coffee farmers and their families in Nariño and Cauca.

Seattle, WA — Starbucks announced plans today to develop a new sustainability learning and innovation lab at Hacienda Alsacia – the company’s global agronomy headquarters for research and development, located in Costa Rica. The lab will serve as a hub for hands-on and virtual learning opportunities for Starbucks partners (employees), students, researchers and industry leaders to innovate and scale sustainable solutions for some of the world’s most challenging environmental and social issues, including climate adaption and agricultural economics.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Starting this fall, the lab will offer the first wave of educational programming to select Arizona State University (ASU) students and Starbucks partners. The first wave will leverage ASU’s leading educational technology and world-class faculty to enrich the student experience, including study abroad opportunities tied to existing ASU degree programs, such as Sustainability, Sustainable Food Systems, Global Agribusiness, Environmental and Resource Management, among others. Starbucks lab is expected to physically open within the next three years.&nbsp;

Located in Panama City’s renowned historic district, the opening marks the 16th store in Panama and further underscores Starbucks commitment to job creation and growth in the market.

Panama City – Starbucks Panama – managed by licensed retail operator Caribbean Coffee Traders Limited – today announced the arrival of the company’s first café in the historic district of Casco Antiguo, a renowned tourist destination recognized as a UNESCO World heritage site. The café is located in Casco Antiguo’s Plaza Herrara in the heart of the San Felipe neighborhood.

"We are very proud to open our doors in one of Panama City’s most culturally significant sites with a stunning store that honors the history, coffee heritage, and natural beauty of Panama,” said Sofia Moreno, Country Manager at Starbucks Panama. “We look forward to welcoming Panamanian customers to this special Casco Antiguo store to enjoy the Starbucks Experience with their family, friends, and coworkers.”

Across the globe, Starbucks designs its stores to foster the human connection that can be made over a cup of coffee and to reflect the international communities the company serves. The new Casco Antiguo café features a one-of-a-kind design, thoughtfully created to honor the UNESCO World Heritage site status of the neighborhood. The store also showcases a mural made by local artist Maria Camila Bernal (pseudonym Remedios) who describes it as a “sunset in the tropics.” Inspired by the vibrant Panamanian summer skies and the warm afternoons, the mural features captivating shades of pink that reflect the beauty of the surroundings. The green and gold tones symbolize the lush jungles and the enchantment of coffee farms, creating a unique connection that captures the essence of this magical experience.

The space is designed to act as a Third Place to Panamanian customers by providing a warm and welcoming gathering spot where all can enjoy high-quality arabica coffee from Latin America and around the world, handcrafted by passionate baristas.

Since entering Panama in 2015 with its first store in Panama City, Starbucks remains committed to its Panamanian customers. This new location marks the 16th store in the market, with more than 140 Starbucks Panama partners (employees) proudly wearing the green apron.

During the month of June, Starbucks Brazil is offering two-for-one espressos and filtered coffees on Mondays and a special day with a size upgrade on Frappuccino® Blended Beverages.

São Paulo – To promote coffee culture and elevate the customer experience, Starbucks Brazil – managed by licensed retail operator SouthRock – today announces two special initiatives for the month of June. Until the end of the month, on Mondays from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m., customers who purchase Espresso (Doppio, Grande, Panna, and Macchiato) and Filtered Coffee (Tall, Grande and Venti) will receive a second beverage for free. Additionally, on June 15, customers who order Starbucks Frappuccino® Blended Beverages can upgrade the beverage size at no additional cost – when purchasing a Tall size (300ml), customers will get a Grande size (400ml), and when purchasing a Grande size, they will enjoy a Venti size (500ml).

"Our two-for-one Monday initiative is a great opportunity to enjoy the Brazilian tradition of coffee time after lunch and strengthen connections between friends, colleagues, and family. Espressos are essential to Starbucks because they represent the heart of our business: coffee in its purest version. With this action, we want to reinforce and promote our coffee culture with our customers, in the most beloved coffee time," said Sedenir Junior, marketing manager of Starbucks Brazil. “Our special June 15 upgrade initiative for Frappuccino® Blended Beverages is an additional way of delighting our customers this month – who doesn’t love a free upgrade?!” he added.

At Starbucks stores around the world, customers can choose their preferred coffee from a selection of whole beans coffees. In Brazil, the star coffee is Starbucks® Brasil Blend, a coffee first developed in 2006, with the opening of the first Starbucks store in Brazil, with 100% Brazilian beans sourced from the regions of Minas Gerais, Sao Paulo and Bahia. If preferred, customers can choose to have their espressos made with Starbucks® Espresso Roast as well.

The double espresso initiative takes place on June 12, 19 and 26, from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m., in all Starbucks stores in Brazil, except at airports. Starbucks® Rewards members will have the promotion extended until 4 p.m. on the same days.
