To celebrate this important milestone together with the community, and in alliance with Pulsar Awards — a project promoted by the Chilean Society of Musical Authors and Performers (SCD) — a series of three live music sessions with talented emerging local artists, will take place at select Starbucks Chile stores.

The live music sessions will take place in Starbucks most iconic stores throughout the market, giving customers the opportunity to enjoy their favorite artists in an intimate setting. The series pays tribute to Chile's vibrant music culture, and expresses gratitude to the dedicated Starbucks fans&nbsp; and Starbucks Rewards members who have stood by the company throughout these past two decades.

The inaugural event kicked off in August with the participation of the <a href="https://historias.starbucks.com/es/press/2023/starbucks-chile-celebra-20-anos-de-conexiones-con-los-ritmos-de-la-musica-local/">renowned local artist Soulfia</a>. The series continues with its second session featuring the Yorka sisters, a Chilean indie pop band formed in San Bernardo, Santiago, in early 2012. The encounter between the artists was recorded on September 7 at Starbucks Chile's first store in Viña del Mar. The iconic San Martín store opened its doors on September 9, 2009, and became the first storeoutside of Santiago for community members to enjoy the Starbucks Experience. The video of this intimate event will be released to the public on October 4 as part of the Chilean Music Day.

São Paulo, Brazil – Starbucks announced today the certification of its first 18 Greener Stores in Brazil, as the company accelerates <a href="https://stories.starbucks.com/press/2023/starbucks-verifies-3500-greener-stores-globally/">the international expansion</a> of its open-source Greener Store Framework intended to reduce global carbon emissions, water usage and waste sent to landfills by 50% by 2030. Located in 14 cities in seven states across Brazil, and operated in partnership with SouthRock, the stores will help reduce Starbucks environmental impact by providing customers with a range of options suited to their preferences while ensuring sustainable practices and materials.

The 18 Greener Stores recently certified in Brazil adhere to the Starbucks Greener Store Framework through a more efficient use of resources. All the certified stores are equipped with 100% mercury-free LED lighting – reducing energy use up to 50% – as well as aerators and metered faucets in all partner and customer sinks and dual flush toilets that reduce water usage by up to 60%. The stores also boast air conditioning with inverter technology, which improves energy efficiency by up to 40%.

Furthermore, these stores are all projected to improve customer well-being by taking measures to reduce noise and make better use of natural lighting. On the topic of waste management, all the Brazilian Greener Stores make used coffee grounds available and free of charge for customers to take home to enrich their gardens through a program called Grounds for Your Garden.

“It is with great pride that we announce the certification of not one, but 18 Starbucks Brazil stores as Greener Stores. This is an important milestone for us, in line with the brand’s global commitment to a resource-positive future, aiming to reduce our environmental impact by half by 2030,” said Claudia Malaguerra, managing director for Starbucks Brazil. “We want to continue on this journey, implementing the Greener Store Framework from the first development stage of our future stores, moving forward with our expansion plans in the market with the Greener Store Framework as a standard,” she added.

<a href="https://stories.starbucks.com/press/2018/starbucks-announces-global-greener-stores-commitment/">Starbucks Greener Store Framework</a> was co-developed with World Wildlife Fund (WWF) to accelerate the transformation of retail towards lower-impact stores that demonstrate reductions in carbon emissions, water usage and landfill waste. Starbucks has committed to building and retrofitting 10,000 Greener Stores globally by 2025, a major step in leveraging its goal to accelerate the global movement towards a more sustainable future.

Since <a href="https://stories.starbucks.com/stories/2021/starbucks-greener-stores-accelerate-global-movement-towards-a-more-sustainable-future/">announcing the international expansion</a> of Greener Stores in September 2021, Starbucks has implemented a global framework of design, construction and operations standards to certify new Greener Stores around the world. As of July 2023, Greener Stores have been certified in more than 20 markets globally; in <a href="https://historias.starbucks.com/es/stories/2023/starbucks-sobrepasa-50-greener-stores-en-america-latina-y-el-caribe/">Latin America and the Caribbean</a>, this includes: Argentina, Bahamas, Barbados, Chile, Colombia, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala, Jamaica, Mexico, Panama, Peru, Puerto Rico, Trinidad &amp; Tobago, and Uruguay, in addition to Brazil.

Seattle, WA – Starbucks today announced the launch of its Starbucks Coffee Academy online educational collection in Spanish on Starbucks Global Academy. The rollout comes ahead of International Coffee Day and as the company commemorates its first-ever Global Coffee Week – a moment for all who love and enjoy coffee to come together to celebrate, learn and be inspired by the limitless possibilities of one of the world’s most beloved beverages.

First introduced in 2019 in English, Starbucks Coffee Academy is designed to explore the many facets of the coffee industry and Starbucks role as a leader in ethical sourcing, roasting, blending, brewing and craft. The collection is now available in over 80 markets and five additional languages – Japanese, Chinese, French, Italian and Spanish – with over 400,000 enrollments to date. The ‘I Am Working’ Project will offer job interviews and career coaching for members of the transgender community.

São Paulo – Starbucks Brazil, operated locally by SouthRock, today announced the second edition of its "I Am Working" initiative, focused on employing members of the transgender community in Brazil. Seeking to amplify its impact, the brand has invited other food and beverage brands operated by SouthRock to participate this year.

Launched in 2022, the “I Am Working” initiative turns Starbucks São Paulo’s Alameda Santos store into a recruitment hub for a day and includes job interviews and a training program developed for members of the transgender community – a community that has historically had fewer opportunities in the Brazilian job market.

"Starbucks Brazil is an ally of the LGBTQIAPN+ community, and we are constantly looking for new ways to broaden our support. It is with great pride that we announce the second edition of our transgender employability project, 'I Am Working,'” said Claudia Malaguerra, Managing Director of Starbucks Brazil. "Starbucks remains committed to building a welcoming culture where all of our partners (employees), customers, and business partners feel welcome. We are very happy to be able to expand the project this year and invite more companies to join us in our efforts to promote inclusion &amp; diversity (I&amp;D) and increase the visibility of this very important cause," she added.

This year, Starbucks Brazil has the support of the employability hub O Trampo É Seu, which is dedicated to raising awareness of the importance of I&amp;D amongst companies and recruiting candidates. The mapping of interested professionals was done in collaboration with the NGOs Casa Florescer and Casa de Acolhimento João Nery “I Am Working” candidates will attend a workshop in preparation for the interview task force, which will be conducted at the Alameda Santos store on September 21. Participating companies will also undergo training to welcome their new employees, including topics such as empathy and behavioral neuroscience, focusing on unconscious biases.

"Through the ‘I Am Working’ initiative, we strive to meet candidates where they are and, in a humanized process, connect with the reality of each person to understand their profile, preferences, and style,'" said Sandra Gioffi, CEO of O Trampo É Seu. "The selection process is a two-way choice, and we aim to communicate clearly and demonstrate our genuine interest in meeting and welcoming all members of the community."

SUPPORT FOR THE TRANS COMMUNITY

In Starbucks stores, every person who orders a coffee or a beverage has their name written on the cup, whatever it is, without question. This served as inspiration for the launch of the&nbsp; "<a href="https://historias.starbucks.com/en-es/press/2022/starbucks-launches-3rd-edition-of-i-am-project-on-brazils-national-trans-day-of-visibility/">I Am"</a> project in January 2020 in support of Brazil’s National Trans Visibility Day.

The project offers free legal and psychological support to partners (employees) who wish to change their names and genders on their birth certificates. Since its launch, more than 100 Starbucks Brazil partners and members of partnering NGOs have had their names amended. With the permission of the participants, the emotional journey of the first year of the project was <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pw-WAnAgPQI">recorded </a>to give the public an insight into the significant impact the initiative has. The video won the Grand Prix at the Cannes Lions Festival in 2021 and two Effie Awards, as well as other industry awards.

Launched for the first time in Brazil in 2019, the beverage, which provides a true taste of tradition, retails for R$16.99, or the redemption of 70 Starbucks Rewards stars.

The new Starbucks® Apple Crisp line, inspired by the famous American apple pie, surprises with the flavor of caramelized apple combined with delicate cinnamon notes that harmonize perfectly with the classic Starbucks® coffee. To celebrate 52 years since the global founding of Starbucks, in addition to seasonal drinks, in Brazil the season will have a special edition whole bean coffee: Starbucks® Anniversary Blend 2023. A testament to the past and a celebration of the future, this coffee was developed in 1996 for the 25th anniversary of the brand. Originating uniquely and exclusively from Indonesia, this blend features aged beans from Sumatra, West Java, and Sulawesi, which together create a bold blend. This dark-roasted coffee stands out for its notes of smoked cedar and Jamaica spice combined with touches of fresh herbs and black truffle, creating a siren song of earthy flavors and spices. Available at all Starbucks stores across Brazil, from R$45.00, or the redemption of 150 Starbucks Rewards stars. Customers who purchase any of Starbucks whole bean coffee have the option to ask the baristas to grind them for free, according to their preferred brewing method.

Bogotá, Colombia – With the recent completion of two additional AquaTower water filtration systems in Colombia, Alsea Foundation and The Starbucks Foundation reinforced their <a href="https://historias.starbucks.com/en-es/press/2023/alsea-foundation-the-starbucks-foundation-and-world-vision-announce-partnership-with-planet-water-foundation-to-guarantee-access-to-clean-water-for-vulnerable-communities/">March 2023</a> commitment to install 25 AquaTowers over the next five years, through their partnership with Planet Water Foundation. This initiative will guarantee access to clean and safe water for up to 45,000 people in various communities across markets where Alsea operates Starbucks stores, beginning with Colombia and Mexico.

The AquaTower systems to be installed will feature a three-stage filtration system, which will allow them to produce 1,000 liters of clean, safe drinking water per hour, and include integrated soap dispensers so that children in the community can wash their hands. The projects will also include the implementation of a hygiene and health education program to encourage behavioral change regarding water use, as well as a system called the AquaSan, which provides surface disinfection capabilities.

“We are sensitive to the situation that many of our communities are suffering from water scarcity, a basic element to preserve life,” said Ivonne Madrid, Director of Alsea Foundation. “We are grateful for the partnership with The Starbucks Foundation and Planet Water Foundation as we know this project will change the lives of tens of thousands of people, ensuring they have access to clean water every day."

“We believe that access to clean and safe water is a basic right, which is why we have collaborated with Planet Water Foundation for more than 10 years, starting in Indonesia and recently expanding to Latin America,” said Alicia Vermaele, director of The Starbucks Foundation. “We are proud that this new initiative will accelerate access for communities in Mexico, Colombia and other places where clean water is lacking, with the help of our local Starbucks partners (employees) as volunteers.”

The first AquaTowers in Colombia

In March 2023, within the framework of World Water Day, the first AquaTower of this alliance was installed in the municipality of Sesquilé. On August 22 and 23, two additional towers were installed at schools in the municipalities of Suesca and Cáqueza, which will benefit more than 5,000 people living in Cundinamarca.

Starbucks volunteers and Alsea employees help to implement the program, under the direction of Planet Water Foundation, who in addition to installing the towers develop a water hygiene and health education program with students and community members, to help create changes in behavior, beliefs and knowledge about life-saving hygiene practices. In Colombia, the projects are implemented in partnership with Planet Water Foundation's deployment partner Trebola Organización Ecológica and local schools.

Access to clean water is a growing problem worldwide. According to UNICEF and the World Health Organization, 2.1 billion people lack access to safe drinking water services. According to 2023 figures from the Ministry of Housing, in Colombia, 12 million people have inadequate access to drinking water service and 32 million Colombians do not have access to drinking water, a reality that mainly affects communities located in rural areas.

Starbucks arrived in Chile on August 22, 2003, with the opening of its first store at Isidora Goyenechea in Santiago. Celebrating Chile with Partner-Designed Anniversary Items

Since its 2003 opening, Starbucks Chile has strived to offer premium products, exceptional service and a welcoming atmosphere in all of its stores, with its green apron partners leading the way.

To celebrate this, the Starbucks Chile 20th anniversary merchandise line was designed by Francisca Luco (@franciscaluco), a Starbucks Chile partner of over two years. Through her illustrations, Francisca brought to life various icons and symbols that represent Chile, such as the mighty Andean condor. Starting September 5, 2023, members of the Starbucks Rewards® program will have the exclusive opportunity to purchase the Starbucks Chile 20th anniversary collection, it will be on offer to the general public starting September 6, 2023, across all stores nationwide.

Also available in stores until September 25, 2023, is the Confetti Cake Pop – a delicate lemon-flavored, bite-sized cake covered in white chocolate and colored sprinkles reminiscent of a celebratory confetti popper. Finally, Starbucks Chile is unveiling a partner-designed beverage – the Leche Asada Frappuccino® Blended Beverage – which will be available in stores across the market in October 2023. The beverage, designed by a Starbucks Chile partner, was selected from over 30 beverages submitted as part of a nationwide competition. The artists are all nominees or winners of SCD’s most important awards – the Best Urban Music Artist (Mejor Artista de Musica Urbana) – Winner and Best New Artist (Mejor Nuevo o Nueva Artista) – Winner.

Lima, Peru – Starbucks, operated in Peru by local licensed retail partner Delosi, is proud to celebrate its commitment to the Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) region and two decades of retail operations in Peru by announcing bold environmental commitments and programs to support local coffee communities.

Since opening its first South American store in Lima, Peru, in 2003, Starbucks has captured the hearts of local coffee lovers across the region with its high-quality arabica coffee and a warm and welcoming atmosphere where customers can enjoy handcrafted espresso-based beverages prepared by passionate baristas. Currently, Starbucks has 1,635 stores across 24 markets in Latin America and the Caribbean.

To aid in its regional expansion, the company has established strong relationships with trusted licensed retail operators, such as Delosi. Through its industry knowledge and market expertise, Delosi currently operates over 110 stores across 10 cities, with nearly 1,700 Starbucks Peru partners (employees) proudly wearing the green apron.

Protecting the Planet We Share

To mark 20 years of retail presence in Peru, Starbucks and Delosi are proud to announce the certification of the market’s first Greener Stores, as the brand accelerates <a href="https://stories.starbucks.com/stories/2021/starbucks-greener-stores-accelerate-global-movement-towards-a-more-sustainable-future/">the international expansion</a> of its open-source <a href="https://stories.starbucks.com/press/2018/starbucks-announces-global-greener-stores-commitment/">Greener Store Framework</a> in support of its global goal to reduce carbon, water, and waste footprints by 50% by 2030.&nbsp; The stores are located in Lima’s Wong Plaza in San Miguel; MallPlaza in Comas; and Frutales in La Molina.

“With this initiative, we seek to push ourselves to be better and motivate other industry players to join in our commitment to sustainability, accelerating the transformation of retail towards stores with less environmental impact. Greener Stores reflect Starbucks efforts to put sustainability at the center of our operations and business,” said Cristel Delgado, brand manager of Starbucks Peru.

The three certified stores adhere to the Starbucks Greener Store Framework though a more efficient use of resources, including 100% LED interior and exterior lighting, grease interceptors, and utilizing electricity instead of natural gas. The stores are designed to reduce water usage by 30% through a combination of proper sizing of water heaters, filters, and low flow plumbing fixtures and processes. Furthermore, Peru is focused on waste management, donating 100% of coffee grounds through Starbucks <a href="https://historias.starbucks.com/en-es/press/2022/starbucks-peru-celebrates-earth-day-with-free-coffee-for-customers-who-bring-their-own-reusable-cups-or-tumblers/">Grounds For Your Garden</a> program, which first launched in the market in 2022.

Currently, the brand operates 90 Greener Stores across 16 markets in Latin America: Argentina, Bahamas, Barbados, Brazil, Colombia, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala, Jamaica, Mexico, Panama, Peru, Puerto Rico, Trinidad &amp; Tobago, Uruguay, and&nbsp;<a href="https://historias.starbucks.com/en-es/press/2022/starbucks-first-greener-store-in-latin-america-certified-in-chile/">Chile</a>, which had the region’s first certified Greener Store. In efforts to further sustainability efforts across the region, Starbucks has committed to build all new stores in the LAC region under the Greener Stores framework by the end of 2023. Globally, Starbucks has certified over 3,500 Greener Stores across 20 markets, which sets the company well on its way to achieving its goal of 10,000 Greener Stores by 2025.

Honoring Coffee Heritage &amp; Supporting Communities

Starbucks has been sourcing high-quality coffee from Peru since the company’s founding in 1971. On June 27, 2023, the brand unveiled <a href="https://historias.starbucks.com/en-es/press/2023/starbucks-introduces-peru-mujeres-de-junin-a-celebration-of-women-in-coffee/">Starbucks® Perú Mujeres de Junín</a> – the first Peruvian coffee grown and developed exclusively by women – to celebrate Starbucks 20th anniversary in the market. Inspired by&nbsp;Pachamama, or “Earth Mother,” this exquisite single-origin coffee represents the essence of the mountains, valleys and biodiversity of Peru’s Central Highlands. The medium-roast coffee was&nbsp;cultivated by a group of over 130 women-farmers, part of a larger producer association known as “Caniari,” located in the Junín region of Central Peru. It will be available in Peru – and 20 markets across the region – until August 21, 2023.

With the launch of Starbucks® Perú Mujeres de Junín – and through the support of the&nbsp;<a href="https://historias.starbucks.com/en-es/press/2023/starbucks-expands-we-are-all-coffee-initiative-to-support-coffee-growers-in-the-junin-region/">“We Are All Coffee” (“Todos Somos Café”) initiative</a>, which ran from May to June 2023 – Starbucks Peru and Starbucks Coffee Company will also be funding 40 coffee drying beds and a coffee quality lab for the community of Pangoa in Junín. This will have a significant impact on the quality of coffee production, as it will allow local coffee growers to better evaluate important characteristics of the coffee, such as aroma, flavor, and acidity.

The “We Are All Coffee” initiative complements The Starbucks Foundation’s&nbsp;<a href="https://stories.starbucks.com/press/2022/the-starbucks-foundation-commits-to-uplift-one-million-women-and-girls-in-origin-communities-by-2030/">goal</a>&nbsp;to positively impact 1 million women and girls in coffee-, tea- and cocoa-growing communities by 2030. In March 2023, The Starbucks Foundation and international nonprofit organization <a href="https://www.technoserve.org/">TechnoServe</a>&nbsp;announced the&nbsp;<a href="https://historias.starbucks.com/en-es/press/2023/the-starbucks-foundation-and-technoserve-partner-to-empower-women-in-coffee-farming-households-in-peru/">launch of the Mujeres CAFÉ initiative</a>&nbsp;to help uplift women in Peruvian coffee communities. Leveraging the work of&nbsp;<a href="https://www.technoserve.org/our-work/projects/coffee-alliance-for-excellence/">the Coffee Alliance for Excellence (CAFE) program</a>, a USAID initiative, Mujeres CAFÉ will work with 1,300 women in coffee farming communities across Peru to develop their leadership and communications skills and take on a greater role in household and community decision-making.

Since arriving to Peru, Starbucks has continued to evolve its strategy to meet customers’ ever-changing needs and lifestyles.

In recent years, the brand has expanded its connection with customers in Peru through digital media. For example, the Starbucks Rewards loyalty platform enhances Starbucks digital relationships with its customers and rewards them in a more personalized and convenient way. This year, Starbucks Peru will relaunch its Starbucks Rewards program offering customers a more personalized interactions that promotes accessibility and a level-up experience. The store will be the southernmost Starbucks café in Latin America, and the opening and underscores Starbucks Chile’s commitment to growth and job creation.

Puerto Montt - As part of its ongoing expansion plans in the market, Starbucks Chile – operated by licensed business partner Alsea – today announced the arrival of the company’s first store in Puerto Montt, a thriving tourist destination and fishing port in southern Chile. The new location invites customers to enjoy customer-favorite Starbucks menu items, such as the Caramel Frappuccino® blended beverage, flavored lattes, hot and iced coffee varieties, and a wide selection of sandwiches and desserts.
